I got bored and lazy:

Original Compositions:
Generic East (Big Boss) (PC98 Version): WAV

I thought this would be fun, and I couldn't be bothered to do anything bigger. I haven't been doing much music stuff recently. I'm doing other things, but I'll try to do music things more often.

I don't know how you see this "game" in your head, but here's how I'm viewing it right now. It seems like each world has its own crisis/problem that you have to do to save the town. The crisis is caused by a main threat, but you have yet to figure out who/what it is. The first world would be Generic Grass, then I see you have a choice between several worlds (Generic Ice, Generic Sky, Generic Spooky, Generic Ocean). Once you solve all these problems, you learn about the main enemy and you hear about something going on at Generic East and you try to get there before it starts (because Generic East seems important :P). After a big event in Generic East, their would either be more new areas to go to or, something happened and you have to go searching for something important in the other worlds you've already visited. After doing that, you would then find out about the main lair in Generic Lava and you decide to take a raid onto it. But first, you must travel through some barren land (Generic West?). Once you reach the Castle, you then raid it with the help of some characters you met along the way.
That's literally what I thought of after listening to Generic Lava's Castle Entrance, so enjoy my thoughts.

Spoiler
Also, I came back just to listen to your music.  ;D

That's quite the analysis you've got there. Right now the ideas are a mess, so any analysis now would probably be inaccurate. I can't say how much of what you said is true, because nothing is properly laid out yet.

The significance of Generic East is confirmed though.

The "characters you met long the way" part was an idea I stopped liking after I composed the piece.

Generic Grass is very obviously the first one.

As I make more, it'll probably become easier to piece together what I have in mind. (an OST order would help quite a bit)

I have a question. For the Generic Sky Map, what instruments do you think it would have if it were an instrumental. I have time on my hands like nobody's business, so I kinda want to make an instrumental of it, if you're ok with it.

Fun Fact: I actually already made an instrumental version of it, but I've yet to post it. Oops.

It was a Yoshi's Island-style theme, where it adds more instruments as you beat levels.

1: Flute (melody), Trombone (bass).
2: + Acoustic Guitar (accompaniment chords).
3: + Piano (backing chords (low)).
4: + Strings (backing chords (high)).
5: + Tubular Bells (accompaniment).
6: + Trumpets (accompaniment).

Something like that. Too bad I can't actually post it here right now.

Here, I made Generic Sky (Map) using the instruments you suggested and in the style you wanted. Of course it's probably different than the way you had planned it. The mp3 has better quality.

What instruments do you think for Generic Sky (Town)?

This sounds pretty neat! I'm not too concerned about how it's different to what I had in mind. I am concerned, however, with how the flute gets drowned out by everything else, despite being the melody. Nice work though!

It's been a while:

Original Compositions:
 - Generic Grass (Race): WAV

I'm using a different reverberator this time around, and I think it's much better. More complicated to use, but better reverb.

This is a non-standard "Race" song, considering it starts at about 140BPM, but increases at certain points. I love this style of music and I really wanted to make one like it, so here we go.

What kind of race are we thinking? I've got a mariokart style in my head, in which case the original section could do well with being as fast as the next tempo. It seems that I like the piece more as it gets faster so bumping it all up a notch might be something?
EDIT: 'Tis really good, though. I do like it ;)

To be honest, I have this idea of a rhythm game happening while these themes play, this one going at a somewhat leisurely stroll. It's the first one, so I imagine it would be the tutorial for all of the rhythm sections later.

I like it at that point too, which is intentional, but I feel like it would get too fast if the whole thing was sped up.

Thanks! I always like to have confirmation from other people that I managed to achieve good atmosphere, like in this next one:

Original Compositions:
 - Generic Ocean (Town): WAV

I got some of my friends to judge the atmosphere. They said it was alright.

Don't judge the kazoos though.

And now, for something completely different:

Original Compositions:
 - Generic Spooky (Challenge): MID
 - Generic Ocean (Town): MID
 - Generic Grass (Race): MID

I've never tried something of this style before. I think it's okay, but not much more. I'll eventually create a full mix for this, and that might improve it.

Also the other two MIDIs are here by request.

You know, the part of Generic Ocean (Beach) where the Bass Clef is playing arpeggios really reminds me of Super Paper Mario. I know some people have said the song sounds like Banjo-Kazooie (which I've never played) and I agree with that, but that one section just really makes me feel like I'm playing Super Paper Mario.

This completely irrelevant post has been brought to you by Prete Industries, a company ThatHiddenCharacter just made up based off of his friend's last name. "Hey, I'm ThatHiddenCharacter, and I approve this message."

Strange, since I've never played Super Paper Mario. Although, I've heard some of its music, so I sort of get what you're saying.

Quote from: ThatHiddenCharacter on February 09, 2017, 04:23:01 PMI know some people have said the song sounds like Banjo-Kazooie (which I've never played) and I agree with that,
It's intentionally mimicking the style.

Here's a SoundCloud one:

Original Compositions:
 - Generic East (Map): WAV

I should probably use more (unpitched) percussion in my songs. Gives a better sense of rhythm.
