blue was right, Mother/EarthBound's music is pretty great
it makes me not want to play it cause I'd probably dislike it

In m11-13 and m39-40, the half notes cut off half a beat earlier and should be notated as dotted quarters instead. The whole notes in m14 and m41 also cut off half a beat earlier and could also be changed to a double dotted half note (though if you want to keep it as a whole note for the sake of neatness, I understand).

...And I thought you were opposed to forward repeat bars at the beginning of m1? ???

It's marking off a section of music that's repeated. In that case, it's fine. It's generally not accepted when the only repeat sign in the music is one at the very end to indicate a loop.
