What games surprised you?

The Walking Dead series has really attracted me these past 2 years. If anything, the fact that Telltale has been able to portray a story so well in the video game realm surprised me (although I'm sure there are plenty of better/equal narrative-driven story games).

Portal 2. I expected it to be good. It was flawless.

Persona 4. I had heard a lot of good things about it beforehand, but I was still kind of "Meh" about anime at the time, but it quickly grew on me and I must say, it is one of the finest games I have ever played.

On the other hand, I have not enjoyed P3 nearly as much. I mostly hate that you can't control your party in battle, and they seem to be big fans of making me die.

Kirby Triple Deluxe. I am amazed at how much I am enjoying this game, especially considering that I don't like Kirby games all that much usually.

I just 'played' through To The Moon.   
What I heard about the game before was:

• Made in RPG Maker
• Story based
• The internet said it was sad

     
Turns out, it was pretty well written, not super short, had some effort put into it and had a good soundtrack.

If I talked about the particular scene it's in, then it would be a spoiler.  And in all honesty it's such a minor part of the storyline it doesn't really matter either way.
