The pit(s) of 100 trials (there are two, one in flipside, the other in flopside) were probably one of the most ridiculous things in that game. The second time through the second one (yes, they actually make you do that), you pretty much just unlock godmode. They're really not that difficult, either, just really time-consuming and tedious (if you stock up on emergency rations from the flopside cook person, you're fine).
