Dunno, Depends on the computer.

Really, all I can say is try syncing it to a different computer, if that works, it is your computer, if not, then it is your ipod. Then, I suggest you take it back to wal-marx and get a free replacement, I do that for all my broken shit even If I didn't buy it there.

Have you tried resetting it?  Just hold down the menu button and then the select button.  You should see that apple thing, then try plugging it in again.
Also check to see if your USB port is USB 2.0...not 1.1 or any other random number..
Or if you have windows vista there might be a new update so check to see if your itunes is current.

And if all else fails, you could resort to the itunes help page.

This is why I'm not buying another iPod.  Zune FTW.   Try doing a hard reset (toggle the lock twice then hold the menu and center buttons down) and if that doesn't help anything I have no clue.

I HATE IPODS! there is almost no one at school who doesn't have one. and those who don't have an mp3 player like walkman. I'm probably the only person who doesn't have either. my computer does the same job so why bother

Gud.  The problem with iPods is that they don't have features every other mp3 player has, and are terribly overpriced.  The only reason people get them is because of iTunes while that is also overpriced and incredibly annoying to deal with the DRM and stuff.
