So. I just watched the Japanese Ace Attorney Movie that came out in 2012. Wow.

Great production quality, but not a (edge)worthy movie overall. The plot was a pecking of the entire first game, with the main plot being Turnabout Goodbyes. There were loads of things that just happened...like, there would be instances when someone would say something and the ENTIRE AUDIENCE, JUDGE, AND PROSECUTION would duck, which doesn't make a lick of sense to me. There were things that didn't even belong there, like the BLUE FUCKING BADGER. Let me give an example.

During the scene where Gumshoe (who is never introduced and is only recognizable by the green coat and chin band-aid) is tracking down Yanni Yogi, this happens:

I don't understand anything in that video. Please, someone tell me what just happened.

The movie was 2.5 hours long - way too long for what it provided me. It DID NOT utilize the AMAZING soundtrack of the game the way it was intended...during the court scenes there was hardly any music at all, which just made them tedious and boring, because there was so much silence, making Phoenix look like a big dweeb.

Everything was under-acted. Maya really didn't do shit, and only Phoenix, Larry and Maya did any acting at all. Von Karma wasn't even intimidating.

Ugh. This was a very disappointing film. Don't see it. Please don't see it. This was not good as a live-action film. I'd be interested to see how an animated film would go, though...
