...um, no. Master Hand only made one appearance in the Kirby universe, as a mini boss in Kirby & the Amazing Mirror.(which was released in 2004, five years after the first smash bros.)

Sorry, I'm not a fan of doing it that way.  I find it even less fair than just picking randomly.
