Yeahhh, Bongo Bongo is probably the best Zelda Boss ever. I love the backstory to him as well. A lot of thought went into this boss and if I could vote for him twice, I would.

King Dodongo is by far the most awesome boss I've ever verused.

Well, as I see it, they do look quite similar, point blank, however ive noticed these in piticular, which might help you.
1)The straw and funny helmet thing on his head suggest that the eye has been stuffed inside as a hiding spot of sorts,
2) And he's wearing gloves that go quite a ways past his wrists, so that suggests his hands are somehow kept inside, and floating astray.
