"Whoa!" (わわわわわっ！！) runs the gamut of musical dissonance with its frequent juxtaposition of closely positioned chromatic intervals. Tension is always present, even during the brief moments of mezzo-piano. While the other "caricature" pieces of this length come off as endearing or perhaps eccentric, this song clearly portrays a state of fatuity and disequilibrium. I like to imagine the tune of "Serene Village" (おだやか村) and other BGM not as merely background music, but as folk tunes memorialized by their respective locales. Perhaps little Oshawott grew up listening to his old pops humming the tune of Serene Village every now and then while cooking his favorite meal. Perhaps one day, your Partner is feeling down on himself, and knowing that that song holds a special place in his heart, you pick up an old guitar and play the song to cheer him up.
