Inside the Castle Walls from Super Mario 64 is both iconic and awesome, AND it uses strings. Somewhat. I think there might be a horn or two in there, but honestly, who can tell the difference?

Anyway, if you want to add a piano part to that, "Epilogue" from Super Mario Galaxy 2 is almost exactly the same song, played on piano. An excerpt from it, at least.

Also, I suggest "Rosalina's Observatory" from Super Mario Galaxy and the classic Super Mario Bros. Underwater theme.
