I honestly hear no difference between the two.

I can't either for some music, but for some audio-intensive(probably not the right way to describe it) music like Nine Inch Nails, the difference in quality is very audible.

You can only tell the difference with a combination of high quality equipment and certain genres that have well mastered tracks.  Electronic, Jazz, Classical mostly.
