Entei, because the first time I played gold, i encountered him several times before even thinking of catching him.

I love this, every choice is based on which pokemon got to your heart the best, not type advantages and crap.

This is a hard one...

On one hand, Entei. Great name, great looks, great stats... but it hasn't got the best moves in existence. Still, with each new generation adding something to its movepool, it will eventually "climb the ladder".
Entei is also fun, because of the discontinuity in its Pokédex descriptions:
 - "Volcanoes erupt when it barks" (some descriptions use "roars" instead of "barks") - Pokémon Gold
 - "Entei is born whenever a volcano erupts" - Bulbapedia.
So, Entei reproduce by barking? Just by using it as your lead during a run through of the Elite Four, you'll introduce five more Entei to the world, even more if you let it use Roar or switch it out and in again.

On the other hand, Ho-oh. This massive flying beast with the power to unleash mighty firestorms, thunder and earthquakes upon its opponents will always have a special place in my heart. It looks wicked too, with its bright colour scheme and monstrous wings. It's strong as heck too, just a shame it's neutered by Stealth Rock. I'll go for Ho-oh.
