I'll just leave this here then, I suppose:

GOD TIER - Generations with amazing soundtracks that are memorable as a whole, with quite a few tracks that stand out as being particularly awesome:
1) Gen 5
2) Gen 3
3) Gen 7

DECENT TIER - Generations with good soundtracks with a sufficient number of good tracks, but other city/route/battle themes are forgettable, fall short, and don't make much of an impression:
4) Gen 2
5) Gen 4
6) Gen 1

CRAP TIER - Generations with entirely forgettable soundtracks and few memorable tracks:
7) Gen 6

I hope we can all agree with Gen 6's placement, at least.

I mean, I might be blinded by 'nostalgia' (if you can call it that since it was only 4 years ago or so) because Black 2 was my first game. Plus I got a pig that ended up evolving into a giant fiery boar
But honestly there's no way to rank the different gens since they all have things going for them and things going against them as well as the fact that everyone has their own experiences and opinions on the games.
Please note I use Musescore and transfer it into Finale Notepad, so formatting may be messed up and help would be appreciated.

Possibly Paniola Town? That's the only place I can think of with a bluegrass vibe, but both the Paniola day and night themes are pretty meh for me.

Love the day theme, don't like the night theme.

Wait I thought we all adored gen 5 here? When did it become cool to hate gen 5 again :(

Fuck logic, that shit is boring, lame and does not always support my opinions.

Dudeman

I don't hate gen 5, I just think it has flaws

like every other game

This is unrelated but another SM track I love is Heahea City. Both versions are great, I guess the night one is a little more my favorite.

Personally, I think Gen 5 is the best gen (especially the sprites; almost makes me sad they moved to models), though it's not my favorite.

Instant memorability plays a big factor in game music for some people. I guess I haven't judged any music by that standard in a long time

Oh another track I fucking love: Floaroma Town. Both versions again, probably the day version a bit more

I can literally only remember the bike theme from gen 5. Its music was about as unmemorable as 6 and 7 (i.e. only having a few memorable tracks). Gen 1 and 2 have like complete ost's worth of music that everyone will continue to remember. Gen 4 is the hipster with many cool tracks like Jubilife, twin leaf, route 205, 206, 209, etc. (to name a few). Gen 3 is similar to this too, methinks.

Also, gen 7 didn't have a bike so it was the first game to have no bike music, which is a huge blow because there isn't a bike theme that isn't insanely memorable to date.
