Never played x or y, don't plan to.  As far as I'm concerned I'm done with Pokemon.  I only got alpha sapphire because it was a remake of the greatest generation.  Pokemon isn't even that great of a game in general

I have to say, the mystery dungeon mechanics were pretty generic. But it was never about that! It was about the story! The characters! The adventure!
I also love all of the Pokemon games. But that's all just my personal opinion, and you can have yours as well. Even if I don't agree with it. Seriously, why.

Really...? I actually enjoy leisurely doing missions in PMD quite a bit more than the main series games... I enjoy dungeon crawling way more than just straight up battling... In my eyes there's more things to do than just select one or four moves and the randomness keeps me on my toes.

PMD is pretty flat gameplay, but it's the sort of monotony that's almost comforting if that makes sense. There's not as much strategy as there is in Pokémon battles, but it's kind of pleasant to just spend a few hours dungeon crawling.

Not like that! I mean generic for the genre of dungeon crawlers. It didn't bring anything very revolutionary to the table, while Pokemon is, well, Pokemon. The game mechanic is very fun, and I really like it.

In all the Mystery Dungeon games I've played I picked my partner to be weak against the type of the Pokemon I was given. I anticipated a plot twist where I'd have to fight my partner and I wanted the advantage, but it never happened and I ended up accidentally killing him a ton of times with misplaced attacks.

Dungeon crawlers tend to be more of a niche genre. Either you like it or you don't. As a kid, I wasn't phased by the first PMD game, so I guess that means I thought it was good.
Man, I need to play that game again...

Despite how much I like gen 4, its Pokedex was definitely not the best. Too many evolutions of older Pokemon... there's a few I liked, but that was it. The extra baby Pokemon were unneeded.
