I remember getting my first shiny in LeafGreen, a Pidgeotto. Months later, I finally found another shiny... a Pidgey.

In Pearl, I've got a Kricketune, and I found a Lotad in Emerald.

In my opinion, the more shiny Pokémon you have, the less special they are. That's why I've never actively hunted for them.

I've never considered shiny 'mons as special. To me it's just a palette swap.

The one shiny Pokemon that I have (shiny Golem) was because I used to not have a life and just spend time on the GTS and try to trade people for shiny Pokemon.  I got sooo close to trading this guy my Charizard for his shiny Spiritomb.  I was soo pissed off. 

And my best friends caught 3 shiny Pokemon IN A ROW!!!  (Spheal, Doduo, and Geodude I think) They did not use a gameshark1

I got a shiny Empoleon on the GTS once. I considered that pretty lucky.

..might be just you, no offense.(please don't bother me if I spelled that wrong, too tired). Try using a water pokemon, level 40 or something
