Pokémon Red/Blue - Trainer Battle it is, then!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Jmty_NiaXc This is the original song. Just beeps, really fast beeps, awesome beeps.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48S_q42YQkw This version was used in the Animé, with the quite fitting name "Burning Battlefield".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qu2IB7mykU&feature=related This remix was used in Pokémon Stadium. Beside the original, it's the best version, IMO.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGDiO1G0-K0&feature=related unplayable?

What I like about this piece is the fact that the main melody is so calm, while the bass is all over, then they suddenly merge and hammer out chords. Then, of course, the story this theme tells (time code for the original song in brackets):

You're out strolling on Route 9, when a young boy suddenly appears. He runs towards you, and challenges you to a battle. And according to the official rules, you can't pull out. Your Pokédex has already registered his request, and if you don't accept, money is immediately drawn from your savings. Battle it is, then.
The lad is barely twelve, but he looks tough. After all, you're about the same age, and have walked all the way here from Pallet Town. The two of you measure up a field on an open area by the road, put your gear down, and take your spots on either end of the field. You don't know what Pokémon he has, what strategy he prefers, or how long the battle will last. On the other hand, he doesn't know anything about you either. Beeps from your pockets count down time until you can throw the Poké Balls. Too early, and the Pokédexes will register a rule break. Too late, it's cheating. Both rule breaks and cheating mean less money for you, more for the Pokémon League Organization. Three... two... one... Go.
(0:00)
Poké Balls fly through the air, open, and creatures emerge in a cloud of pure white light. The youngster has chosen a Rattata. Well then, no match for Nidorino. You calmly calculate what moves to use, and Nidorino expectantly looks at you over his left shoulder.
"Double Kick", you mutter, as Rattata runs towards Nidorino. The Pink rabbit/rhino scrapes the ground with his forelegs, then dashes for the rodent.
(0:15)
At the last second, Rattata speeds up significantly, and tackles Nidorino right in the jaw. After the impact, it slides underneath Nidorino's body, but can't avoid being hit by a hind leg, and then the other.
"Horn Attack", you shout. Nidorino was damaged by a Pidgey a few hours before the battle, and isn't in top shape.
"Bite!", the youngster yells from his position on the other end of the field. You can hear from his voice that he thinks you are stronger than him. The two dash for each other again, Rattata jumps up in the air with its tiny jaws wide open. Nidorino jumps too, and rams Rattata right in the belly. The Rat Pokémon is flung clear off the field, and doesn't try to get up once it lands. Nidorino roars triumphantly, while the kid runs over to see if Rattata is okay. You remark that a professional trainer would have called his Pokémon back without moving himself, but it's nice to see that the kid cares about his Rattata.
(0:58)
Not much later, you're back into position. The kid is out of luck today, a single Fury Attack slams his Sandshrew to the ground. His Ekans isn't very impressing either, but it manages to land a Bite before being taken out by Horn Attack.
(1:21)
"Go Diglett!", the kid shouts and throws his fourth Poké Ball. The Mole Pokémon is already submerged in the ground when the cloud of light settles.
"Double Kick", you shout to your weakened Nidorino.
"Dig!", the kid shouts, and Diglett seemingly vanishes. Nidorino stops, looking around. His large ears stand right up from his head. He's fully focused on trying to spot the ground bulging before Diglett emerges. However, he doesn't see it. Diglett appears right under Nidorino's feet, and breaks the ground with such force that Nidorino is thrown a few metres to the side. You call it back. Defeated, but you've got more Poké Balls in your belt.
(1:26)
"Go Pidgeotto!", you shout. Diglett's next Dig is just useless. "Wing Attack!"
Pidgeotto turns towards the Diglett, spreads its wings, and starts flapping them. Then, an unusually strong flap of the wings, and a shockwave runs across the grass and smacks into Diglett. It turns limp and seemingly sinks into its hole. A beep from the Pokédex in your pocket indicates that the battle is over. You shake hands with the kid, call back Pidgeotto, and keep on strolling, heading for the next Pokémon Center...
(fade out).

Thanks for taking over :) This song gives a pretty big rush. As I've mentioned before (not here),  I haven't listened to much Pokemon music, but this song goes great in a battle. The left hand is a bit uncontrolled in this song (I've only listened to the original, btw). And is it me, or does the song have a few beeps spread out? Well, anyway, the main melody sounds a little eery, and the bass helps add to it so much. I'm not sure how to describe it, other than the one of the most perfect songs for a side battle.

Also, one thing that I noticed from Cobraroll's speech (great, btw!), I'd like to hear all your perspectives as if it's the first time you listen to the song. The main reason being, that most people I meet judge vg music as nerdy, as soon as they hear an 8-bit sound, etc. I'd like to hear information as if you didn't even know it's from a video game, please! ;D

Brawler4Ever

In the original, I could hear three pitches of beeps. My favorite has always been the middle pitch; the one generally used for the bass cleft in piano. It's so underrated, yet so totally awesome.

I last played Pokemon three years ago. Blue Version. I never even finished Sapphire; by then it was just too weird. Bulbasaur is, and always will be, my favorite Pokemon. (That includes his evolutions)

Funniest thing: I was at Toys R Us looking for toys for my nephews, and I saw a poster for Pokemon. Every single Pokemon on the poster was third generation except one: Pikachu. That Pokemon was the only one that I recognized. I thought that it was funny.
Even when everyone else has gone,
I will punch the punching bag until a game comes on. XD

10 years later. Still Brawling!

this song is epic, one of my favourite ones of the pokemon series. It reminds me of my childhood...EPIC! It was really difficult to arrange and it sounds a bit strange on piano, but if someone of you is capable of playing this, he must videotape it.
Brawler4ever, you are right this is funny, there are so many Pokemons, they should stop making new ones. No child on earth will be able to know all Pokemons.
To Cobraroll: Amazing story^^.
Check out my arrangements! I mean it! Check them out!

Anime is getting a little overwhelming in America...

I took the time to get it as realistic as possible. Everything in that story is taken straight from R/B/Y (location, trainer, Pokémon, moves, and the actual damage they would do to each other. Except from the fact that a lvl. 32 Nidorino's Double Kick would have knocked out a lvl. 19 Rattata, possibly in a single hit).

Anyway, this song sounds like it's made for electric guitar. Though, the main melody fits any instrument, as long as that thundering bass is in place. Even flute, which for some reason makes it even more epic (as in, "there's one helluva storm out there, and I'm in the middle of its calm eye"). On the other end of the spectrum, even an organ would fit.

Or perhaps that's just me liking this song, no matter what instrument it's performed on.

By the way, suggestion for a future song: Gourmet Race.

Hey, if you can provide a story and a realistic POV, that'd be great, too! And, also, link please. ;D

Oh that's the song? I've heard it before! It's a great song! Yeah, this is definitely going on the list!  :)

EDIT: Also, I added Final Destination: SSBB, unless anyone has any issues with it . . .

No one does? Ok! :P

Another approach to the Pokémon Battle Theme. It's only the first third of the video, but the rest is definitely worth a watch as well.

I love it.

I love this song. I don't know if you will though.

We'll that's all I've got. hope you like them

I didn't make this topic based on my opinions. I want to hear what you guys  have to say too. And the two are, indeed, list worthy. I was wondering when we would get into some Metroid. . .

Maretocks

Not many Metroid songs have alot of depth though. I never really like the soundtracks, save for a few of the ambient songs.

Well, I thought it was on topic, but we can surely add it. Okay, perhaps not necessarily the entire piece, but perhaps the Pokémon Main Theme, which kicks in at 2:40, and/or the Elite Four Battle, from 3:48 on, or the Lance Battle Theme from Gold/Silver, which has a tiny part from about five minutes in. Separately, perhaps.
