I kind of want to play a Sonic game now, but I don't know where to start. Lost World seems interesting, but some people say that game is bad.

Sonic Heroes is pretty fun.

Sonic Heroes is really cheap, but it seems like a love it or hate it kind of game. The first level's music is great, though.

Now that I think about it... how come on a lot of multiplatform 6th gen games, the PS2 version is considered the worst? Spyro Heroes Enter the Dragonfly, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog (apparently)...

Sonic 3 and Knuckles is the best one hands down. (Also my first one, but that's totally not a factor)
It's simple, with great gameplay and level design.

I like exploring the levels, and I'm just really bad at the super fast sections. I don't gotta go fast. Sonic 2 is also really good and more visually impressive, but I think it's pretty overrated actually.

Mmmm yeah Sonic 3 & Knuckles is pretty great. And as special as Sonic 2 is to me, I gotta say, Sonic 3 has one of the best soundtracks of them all (if not the best). Lava Reef, Hydrocity Act 1 & 2, Flying Battery, Ice Cap, Angel Island...seriously this game's soundtrack is stacked. The Sonic section on-site needs so much more love

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is pretty much the best 2D platformer ever. Sonic 1 and 2 have gotten a bit boring for me over the years but 3&K has always been awesome.

Speaking of soundtracks, my favorite might be Sonic 3D.
