Someone in my Score Analysis class asked the professor how long our mid-term paper should be. His response:
"It's like a woman's dress. Long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to keep things interesting."

I heard something similar for my mid term English paper (maximum 1000 words), but this was from a 40 year old woman teaching the class.
"This analogy is easier for the girls. It's like a short skirt; it isn't much but it covers everything that's vital".
