There's nothing else to say. Even saying something as simple as 'Well that would be obvious' is much more jeering and sarcastic in a rather impersonal (by "impersonal", I mean something similar to "unfeeling") and contemptuous (I'm not sure if those are exactly the correct words to use?) way.

EDIT: Essentially, it's saying the same thing, but in a different way, as to not convey unnecessary harshness/spitefulness.
