2. log(x^2)+log(4)=2
3. log(4x^2)=2
4. 10^2=4x^2
5. 100=4x^2
6. 25=x^2
7. +5=x

2. Logarithm Exponent Rule: Alog(B)=log(B^A)
3. Logarithm Multiplication Rule: log(A)+log(B)=log(AB)
4. Logarithm Rule Thingy: Logs are base 10, so log(A)=B is also equal to 10^B=A
5. Simplify terms.
6. Divide by 4.
7. Square root.  Find answer.

The answer can't be -5, because when you unlog (I don't know any other terminology, sorry!) something, you find the absolute value, since one can't have a logarithm of a negative number.  For the simpler version of this though; if you find that what's inside the log is negative, it's wrong!!!

This will become easy to you when you take higher level Maths, don't worry!  I used to be only adequate at Maths, but I've caught up to the Maths obsessed students of my school, so it just takes time and studying!

I prefer Geometry over Algebra, except for all the long proofs; fortunately, I'll be doing that next year (I've already done Geometry, but I need to retake it in order to get credit with the school )
