When putting lyrics under notes, is it possible, during playback, to have those notes not play?
in other words, for that section where there are lyrics, have it be silent?

You mean a tacet? You can't do that during a playback.

If there's something more specific, like having the singer read their own line, you can mute the entire part.

Other than that, it's not possible to my knowledge.
Try to do everything; you're bound to succeed with at least one.

well, its only one part in the song.

for example, it's for a pep band. so the person will play the instrument, then shout something out, then continue playing.

but during playback, i want the notes with which the lyrics are placed under to not be heard.

but i wont die if it cant be muted, lol.... it would just be eaaier... >.>

thank you, tho  :)

You make a seperate line for the shout and then mute it within the Window Mixer (or something like that) menu. It won't be playbacked then.

Hmm. I think I can help you out. PLUS I HAS PIC'S TO HELP! This is for Finale.
1)Go to Dynamics and click the dynamic you want to use.
2)After you click it, click edit.
3) Keep the text as it is and go to the next page.
4)The next page will a velocity editer. See the set value option? Click the number and change it to 0.
5) Click ok.
6) The note's will all be mute where you placed the dynamic.
7) Do steps 1-4 again, except you erase the text of the dynamic so that theres nothing there and change the value to whatever you want.
8: The voice part should now be muted and the next note should be back to normal volume!

Whew, this took 10 minutes to make. Sorry if this took half of the page.

That is the best way to give someone Finale help. It's so much easier that way.

Either by using another program (I use Logic Express 8) or with Finale PrintMusic. If you have PrintMusic, you can make some awesome MP3's by opening up your sheet, then:

File > Export to audio file

NotePad (or any other Finale program, correct me if I'm wrong) cannot produce MP3 files.
