Now that summer has begun, we are kicking off the search for what the next NinSheetMusic project will be! For the newer folks, a project update is an update based around a single theme (see past examples Too Hot to Handle and Space). The nomination period will be open from now until June 12th 3 PM US East Coast; each user can suggest one theme in the thread here.  The restrictions are the same as they always are:

  • The theme cannot be limited to a single game/series or musical style.
  • No duplicates of previous themes (space, colors, etc.)

The best themes are the ones that are easily applicable to many different types of video games and musical styles, whilst also being coherent.  If you want to see the previous nomination thread, you can find it here.

Like previous times, the updaters will draft a shortlist of project options before the community vote.  This is to simplify the voting and to ensure that the options will be the ones most viable as an arrangement project focus.  Once the shortlist is announced, the voting will be open for around five days.  After that, submissions will open for a fixed time period (more details to come when nominations are closed).

Theme suggestion: Graduations/departures. Tunes in games that signify a new beginning or a closure (start of adventure, end of adventure, a drastic change during the adventure). Examples would be: Departure from Wind Waker, Time to Set out from Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, probably any credits theme, etc.

If that ends up being the theme, I might actually try to arrange the Mega Turrican ending theme :eyes:
And the moral of the story: Quit while you're a head.

You could say I'm going to Try, Try Again with this theme pitch. Heh.

Keep Your Enemies Closer: Evil-aligned themes (e.g. antagonists, bad/mean NPCs, dungeons/lairs, fight/boss themes, anything related to enemies)

"NSM Sells Out:" a collection of shop themes, casinos, or any minigames with betting, gambling, etc. Basically, if it's got anything to do with money it's in.

As a contrast to last year's theme, perhaps we could do an aquatic update this year. Not only underwater themes, but any tracks that play in places with a sizeable amount of water. Lakes, rivers, waterfalls, beaches(which were in the last one too, but could also apply here) and so on would work. It could even be related to indoor water fixtures, like showers, sinks and bathtubs. There'd be plenty to work with! ;D

Someone's thinking of Squeaky Clean Sprint, huh? :P

Slipped my mind actually, but that's a good example. ;)
There's also the Shower Room from Pikmin 2 and the Turtle Bath's theme from Chulip, to name a couple more.

The shortlist and voting will be announced soon

It's time for... project democracy!

Voting will work in the same way it did for the previous projects (you can see the details of the method that we are using here).  To vote, you need to direct message me (using either Discord or the Forum) a ranked list of the options from most favorite to least favorite.  Here is an example vote message:
Spoiler
<username>
1 - Season Pass Exclusive Music
2 - Music that can be imported to Famitracker
3 - EPIC music to study and game to
4 - Music from Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 3
5 - YouTuber Video Game music (arrangements of music commonly used in YouTube videos)

In your vote you need to rank every option, with no ties allowed.  If you don't do this, your vote will not be counted.  Also, just like in previous times, arrangers (those with at least one sheet on-site) will have their votes count for double.

Here are all of the project themes to vote on:

The Shortlist

-Beginnings and Endings
-Keep Your Enemies Closer
-Nighttime!
-NSM Sells Out
-Aquatic Update

You have about a week (closing voting at 3 PM US East Coast on June 19th to send in your votes to me, after which I will announce the winner and open up submissions.  More details surrounding how the submissions will work will be given at that time, although it should function similar to previous projects.
