8va Question

I know what an 8va is. Just to get that out.


When one with a higher version of Finale wants to do an 8va, should the sheet look like this, or this before that person puts in the 8va? I don't have a higher version of Finale, so I don't know...

Well, you have different notes on the two different examples, so I'm kind of confused as to what you're asking.

If you mean should it be an octave lower than it should be played or at the same octave that it's supposed to be played at, it should be an octave lower.  If you are asking something else, then please explain.

Does Finale automatically move the notes down an octave when you give it an 8va? Or do the notes remain where they are?

If you gave the first one an 8va, this one, what would it look like? Would it look the same as it is now, just with an 8va sign above it?

The notes remain where they are.  Your example would look the same but with an 8va above it.
