Quote from: Metamyrrh on December 09, 2023, 02:47:59 AMThank you very much for the feedback! All the beaming should be fixed. Most of the RH notes you mentioned (m17 beat 7.5-m18 beat 1.0, m18 beat 6.5-8.5 second layer, and m20 beat 1.0) are meant to represent the harp, which I do hear clearly, just in a different octave.
For this m17-18 specifically - I relistened, 7.5 the violin/lead string sounds like it's an En 16th note, followed by a An 16th for 7.75. It is then absent for m18 beat 1 - I suppose you could represent the harp, but this would represent the melody a bit better. If you do keep the harp idea, I would suggest moving m19 RH beat 1.0 to a second layer just to show a little more that it's separate from the meldoy part (could do for m18 and m21 1.0 as well).

• Listening again, hearing m15 LH 4.5 as Fn, not En.
• m19 LH beats 5-7 should match m15 LH 5-7
•  m18 and m20 LH 7.0 the bottom note would work better as an An from the sounds of it.
• I would relisten to the LH parts m25-28 - the bottom note is not consistently An, and I hear some different top pitches throughout as well

Sorry for the delayed response! Everything should be taken care of, kept the harp only in m17-18. Here are the updated files: https://www.mediafire.com/file/kun1eqmditaqs8w/A+Battle+of+Wits+v7.zip/file

Nearly there with this!

• m7 you could add an dynamic, this would show the player to return to mf from mp after the repeat.
• m18 RH 1.0 the 8th rest could be the normal 8th rest height - whenever you have multiple layers, so long as there are no collisions or notes and rests ending up too close, put the rests to the height they would normally be (ex. m19 beat 1)
• m26 LH not hearing the Fn's on the bottom for those 3 beats. For 3.5, the Bn on bottom should be a G.
• m28 LH 4.5 top En should be Cn, 5.5 the An on bottom is a Gn

Alright, going to mark this one as approved. I have made file updates to the submitted files, please give them a review if there is anything you see that needs to be changed, please let me know

Bloop

Hi there! I'm sorry for the long wait on this one, I've wanted to get to it but for some reason something kinda blocked me from doing so.

-m1-2: I hear some more notes in the bottom layer of the L.H.: a C in m1 beat 2.5, and a B in m2 beat 1.5
-m3: There's an accidental staccato in the R.H. here.
-m5: I don't think the triangle hit here really works that well: it's very dissonant on piano together with the L.H. It's probably better to incorporate the higher string voices here too to keep the momentum going.
-m7: I hear a D instead of a C in the R.H. on beat 1. I think also in m11, though it's a bit hard to make out for sure.
-m13: If you want, you could put the R.H. Bb in beat 4.5 in the L.H. too. Not sure which I'd prefer, both work equally well haha
-m17: The R.H. staccato on beat 2.5 should be on the notehead side. Also, the E on beat 4.5 should be two tied 8ths (like in similar measures)
-m23: The low A in the R.H. on beat 4.5 is a bit stretchy to get too, if you want the player to hold the high C from beat 1. Maybe you could move the A an octave up?
-m24: The tie in the R.H. on beat 4.5 should be flipped. Also, maybe you could add a staccato in the L.H. on beat 7?
-m25-28: I'd probably write the L.H. here similarly to the L.H. in m7-10, as you're missing some important harmony in some places (mostly F's for example)
-m28: The R.H. run at the end is a bit hard to read in 16ths all together, personally I'd probably break the beams after every beat count (so after both C's). Also, the Eb at the end should be a D#, as it's leading towards the E back on the repeat (similar to the D# at the end of m6)

Thank you very much for looking over this, Bloop! I appreciate your time.

m7, m9, and m11 RH beat 1: I hear all of these as the same, so I changed all of the Cs into Ds.
m24 LH beat 7: This note was not staccato on purpose, since I hear this note as longer than the others in the LH this measure. I added a tenuto marking to distinguish it.
m25-28 LH: Is this what you mean? I have a feeling that I may still be missing the harmonies you mentioned.

As for the m3 and m17 RH staccato issues, I'm not seeing these in my file, so I'm not sure how to make the change. Sorry about that. Everything else is updated! https://www.mediafire.com/file/jbi4nr98wkqb52c/A+Battle+of+Wits+v9.zip/file
