So it seems that all glissandos starting on black keys don't play back properly and instead repeat the first note over and over again. Is it even correct to notate a glissando starting on a black key?

That glissando error is just some error with the glissando. It has happened to me as well. Just make a new file and it should work fine.
Also there's nothing wrong starting the glissando on a black key, it's perfectly fine.

I think however you should start the glissando in the LH bass clef going up to the RH treble clef. I think it would be easier to read/understand rather than writing an 8vb under the note.

"2014 has had many HP problems. I'm guessing 2014.5 won't address these, unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong.

Anyway, if you change the HP preferences to Diatonic, you get closer, but not close enough.

Many of HP's woes are only when playing back live with HP. When applying the HP plugin and turning off live HP, you avoid the problems (most of them, I think). The attached revision of your file is after I apply the HP plugin. Basically, that's what you really need. Get by until you're done with a project, then apply the plugin.

This was dated about a month ago. I tested out the Diatonic part and I have no idea if that will still be good enough or not, but it's better than just a repeating note
