My friend says it's impossible to play ten notes in one second on a piano.  Erm, let me be more specific first... when I say "ten notes in one second", that means:

  • not at the same time (must be consecutive)
  • glissandos don't count
  • using your right hand only

...so, is it possible to play ten notes in a second, the way he means it?

Shadoninja

might be possible if you use grace notes and if you had your fingers on the black keys and moved each of them up a semitone after you play them.

The original trainer battle theme from Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow requires a person to play sixteenth note chromatic runs at 170 bpm. That's plenty more than 10 consecutive notes per second. It's definitely doable if your fingers have enough agility, as evidenced by this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGDiO1G0-K0

...why is this post blank now?

Jub3r7

It's not blank anymore, it just has a messed up e!

And also since Concerto isn't here we have to blame Jamaha. :(
It's dangerous to go alone, take me with you! [JUB has joined the party.]

Jamaha

Yeah I kinda screwed up when I upgraded the forum.

My arrangement of Clash on the Big Bridge requires you to play more than 10 notes a second. Not sure if it's entirely playable though :P

fingerz

Fight Against Byrne requires 12 notes in a second. :P
It should be playable, though. It's more of an arpeggio than a run.
