Percussion can be looked at as fun or boring...

Pianos are amazing to play + it looks good when you say you play it, but you can't hit anyone in the head with one.

Drums are amazing! I play lots of types, mostly pitched drums (set, well that's a different story)

I failed miserably at guitar... I always make the guitarists at my old school want to learn something else to play when I say "You know, just because you know TABs and you can play a shitload of chords doesn't mean you're a musician. Go on and tell me the 6 notes on the guitar that make up a C Chord..." and they just stand there. I know music stuff is supposed to come from the soul to express feelings, but I believe you aren't a true musician unless you know some theory first

No, you can be a true musician without theory; but you can't be a great musician without theory.

the only reason i learned piano in the first place was so that i had a more visual aspect for learning music theory (because i was a drummer i needed at least one noted instrument). then it just came natural after that! i do think that the building blocks of music begin with theory... drpamplemousse? do you have a nickname? something shorter?
