Aha thanks! I'll post it when I'm done making it look like the template.

Think I'm done! Where do I submit it?

2010.

Or maybe should I just leave the left hand in bass clef and use ledger lines? The highest note for left hand seems to be the bB above middle C so far. Shouldn't be that big of a crime, right?

Music / Finale question
April 15, 2010, 04:13:33 PM
I started to arrange a piece that I want to submit here... but ran into trouble as Finale Notepad didn't let me switch between treble and bass clefs within a single staff. I looked at the Finale product comparison page and concluded that only the last upgrade (the $300+ one) would let me do that.

Since someone here probably has the ultimate version, I can probably work on the score and put textboxes "treble" and "bass" for someone to replace them with the clefs, if you guys are fine with that. One downside is that the playback will sound horrible when I'm working on it, since the notes will be sounding in a wrong clef :P

What do you think & any suggestions?

(I also compose in NoteWorthy, but I'm guessing going from .nwc -> .mid -> .mus would mess up the notations by too much. The clef changes didn't get through either, instead creating loads of ledgers. Probably not the way for me to go.)

Music / Re: The Fundamentals of Piano Practice

Interesting find! It's true that some of the book's claims are sort of self-contradictory, but I think there are some truth in it and I'll definitely try out these things:
1. Divide and conquer a piece. Repeat the most difficult bars instead of repeating whole passages.
2. Also think i'll try practicing without the pedal, and in general use it more judiciously. I use to pedal per chord, which does cover up mistakes.

But I'd say, simply ignore whatever you don't agree with. The author writes with such a fierce tone and absolute definiteness that we can't help but be skeptical of his beliefs and claims. Try things out if you like the book, but make your own judgment.

Parts: Piano, Violin. (It sounds like one hand too many for piano only.)

Any help/work will be greatly appreciated!

Just some ideas - if not doable or simply too much work, then please don't bother. I'll be happy with just one or two ;)
Also, please prioritize on the easier pieces like "Putting Words Together".

1. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance:
"Snow Dancing in the Schoolyard"

"Walking in Ivalice"

This is hard to arrange for one player. Maybe you can arrange this for four hands?

"Marche"

"Battle of hope"

In the brass section, maybe blast out those big chords with the left hand?

2. Final Fantasy Tactics A2:
"Putting Words Together"

A simple and beautiful piece.

"Determination"

This is here just because it's the best piece in the game. A piano arrangement would be very hard in my opinion, but just perhaps you might see a way to make it work.

"Summer Holidays"

"Sky Pirates From the East"

Actually a piece from FF12 originally ("Penelo's Theme").

Thank you!
