Help! / Re: Having Trouble with Repeats in Musescore
April 27, 2019, 10:21:14 AM
Quote from: Dekkadeci on April 25, 2019, 06:24:14 PMTry right-clicking on the D.C. marking and clicking on "Edit Element". A "Play repeats" checkbox should appear in the Inspector to the right. Check it off.

I had to update my musescore but it worked in the end. Thank you!

Help! / Having Trouble with Repeats in Musescore
April 25, 2019, 04:17:01 PM
I've come to a slight problem with musescore. I'm going to link the (unfinished) musescore so you can see it more clearly. My problem is that I can't find a way for Musescore to repeat the entire piece, first and second endings included. In all of the different variations of D.S.'s and D.C.'s I've tried, it either A.) doesn't work. at all. B.) skips the first ending and jumps straight to the second, or C.) skips both of the endings, which struck me as really odd. Right now I just have  D.C., which skips the first ending.

if anyone could help me figure this out, that would be wonderful :)

Let's Cook 1 (very unfinished) on Musescore

Hi, sorry for the long wait. Here's the real, actual version, which I've double checked: actually this time

all I really need is the swing to actually function like, y'know, swing. I'll figure out how to format it according to the guidelines afterwards lol. Thank you!

Quote from: Latios212 on March 09, 2019, 08:32:31 AMI updated the formatting as well as per the NSM guidelines~ (also, some of the stuff I posted on your thread remains to be adjusted)

Hi, i thought I replied already, but it doesn't look like it. I accidentally linked the wrong version. Is it okay if I link the right one? I don't mean to make you re-fix it, I'm sorry.

Hi! My finale can't handle swing, so I was wondering if someone could apply swing to my entire piece? Just the normal quarter note-eighth note triplet swing, please. Thank you

Help! / Swing in Finale Notepad
February 28, 2019, 08:22:25 PM
 I'm back!

I had no trouble importing my sheet music into the Finale Notepad, which was a blessing, but as I was fixing some of the things that didn't transfer (page numbers, etc.) but I found that despite having a working swing in Musescore it didn't transfer to Finale. I've been doing some googling and it seems to be that Notepad can't do swing because it's free. I was wondering if there was a way to put in swing or if not if it's okay to submit a .mus file for the site in a broken swing. Thank you!

Edit: I meant to stick this in the reply of my last post, but I was a bonehead and made a new topic. Sorry.

Help! / Re: Finale Notepad? .mus files?

Quote from: Bobbythekid21 on February 28, 2019, 05:24:07 AMI did the same thing. I filled out as little as possible and when it came to my address I lied.
Quote from: Dekkadeci on February 27, 2019, 10:02:11 PMI gave up and offered my personal information. I think I tried as hard as possible to give fake names, though.

Yup, that's the thing about getting Finale Notepad 2012 (for free, like it should because it's Notepad).

Okay that sounds solid. I wasn't sure if there was a concrete reason for it to be asking for so much info, so it's good to know it's not important. Thank you for helping me.

And $600????? That is such an exorbitant amount of money I can't even think about paying that much for a computer program. Wow.

Help! / Finale Notepad? .mus files?
February 27, 2019, 08:06:39 PM
I've been looking through this site quite a bit in search of what kind of Finale I should use, but I'm not sure what's free or not. I've gone to their website to download Finale Notepad, but it's asking for so much personal information I don't know what to do. All I want is to get a .mus file from my Musescore files, so I can try and see if I can submit some sheet music. If anyone could assist me I'd be infinitely appreciative.

I put that in, and it felt as if it were interrupting the melody line a bit too much, and making it a bit jumpy. But listening to the original song I think you were hearing the echo effect the track has layered on it and interpreting as more notes, which isn't wrong, it's just the result of a keen ear. Thank you for the suggestion, though!  ;D

Hi! And thank you for taking some time to look at my music.

As for your replies:

Quote from: Bobbythekid21 on February 26, 2019, 06:09:19 PMNever heard this song before but I googled it and I like it. Do you have a midi of it so we can hear it?

Cool! Thanks! I don't know how to make an MIDI, so I'm going to link its page in Musescore (i used MS while I was working on it see how it looked. It's been on there for months, sorry.) Cooking Mama Menu Theme

Quote from: Latios212 on February 27, 2019, 04:42:02 PMWow, good work, this looks super solid overall :P Have you arranged before.

Don't have the time to look super closely right now, but one thing I'll comment on is the accidentals. There are some places where you should spell notes differently due to their function as a neighboring chromatic tone.

No, actually. This is my first honest arrangement of something, and I'm glad it turned out so well. As for the accidentals, I understand and I'll fix it :).

As for the actual arrangement, it seems pretty solid in general! Here's some things I noticed:
  • For things like the quarter note in the RH of m.2, you should split it into tied eighths to avoid the note crossing over a beat. (Latios has a guide that goes over this stuff.)
  • You've got a nice line moving downwards in the LH of m.13, I think it would make more sense to maintain that into m.14 instead of jumping up a 7th.
  • Throughout the arrangement, I hear the first eighth note in each beat as being split in two. To be clear, this is what I hear for the RH of measure 7:
    Spoiler
    [close]
Pretty much the same thing throughout the rest of the piece.

The first two bullets I get, but the last one is kind of throwing me for a loop. This may just be me being a bonehead, but I'm confused as to what you mean. In the diagram, you have a few notes but I'm dense and don't know what you're referring to. If you could elaborate that'd be fantastic, thank you. Sorry for being clueless :/.

Hello! I've arranged some sheet music for my favorite Nintendo DS game, Cooking Mama, and I'd like someone to peek a look at it to tell me what I could improve on and how it is in general. Groovy!

Thank you so much! And yeah that was really fast ha
