Noticed a few days ago, when playing piano, that my pedal technique was very poor
. However it's not something that I've paid much attention to. But when I tinkered around with the pedal a bit, I found out that pedaling is way more nuanced than I thought. I used to only do the "switch pedal before new chord" and also sometimes add pedal to a bass note. But I now found out that it's a lot more nuanced and that those 2 techniques alone doesn't always work. In arpeggios, for example, I find that switching around the last note of an arpeggio is better than switching just before the new arpeggio. Or gradually releasing the pedal is sometimes better. And sometimes you can hold it down for longer, and only switch sometimes to clear the sound a bit. So a lot more nuanced than I learned. A bit sad noticing that my pedal technique was poor, but I guess that's something to work on and improve.
