I think what your teacher means is not to try to play by ear so much. Playing by ear and memorizing are good, but you also need to be able to play from a sheet without concentrating so much on the keys. It does take a lot of practice to know where things are underneath your fingers, and like people have said, for bigger jumps pretty much everyone has to look at their hands. But I think the aim here is to be able to sightread better, and stumble a little less.

And I probably just repeated what a bunch of other people said -shrug- sorry about that.

If you like, you can pick a song from the website and just play the one-finger melody. Usually the top note of the right hand would work.

Or, take a break from all of these arrangements and work on something that's not from a video game. There's a plethora of music books and sheet music out there, waiting to be played.

Or you can pick a song from here, start with the one-finger melody, work with your hand separate, and then work on putting them together. No one says you have to get these right away, and some of these arrangements seem unreasonable to me on what you have to do (try Fountain of Dreams from Super Smash Bros. Melee. All of those super-fast four-note chords seem pretty impossible to me). Just take your time and be patient. If you get tired of a song, take a break, look at something else. Play a song you know and love. Piano is to be enjoyed.

If someone would arrange the theme from when maple's approaching, and maybe add also the rush for maple's items? It would be really nice. Oh, and I actually have Midi links:

I understand it might be hard to put two different midis onto one sheet, so if you only end up doing one, that's ok.

I'm learning a simplified version of Claire de Lune (I think that's how it's spelled), and a song from a set called "New England Memories" that I didn't learn before. I know the other two songs though.

Oh, and I was going to learn a nice fancy version of "Be Thou My Vision" but my piano teacher lost the music and hasn't been back up to the city to get it again...and I'm almost done with piano lessons for the summer...

so to "wrap" it up its just a complete rip off

I think I'll agree with the people who said Fountain of Dreams. That would sound awesome on band.

I can't help with the Lost Winds, but have you tried telling your adventurers to gain experience so they can level up? They may do better if they're a higher level.

I got My Life as King and I like it a lot, my brothers not so much, just because they liked the fighting and such, and they don't really like this kind of game. I liked the fighting too, I just stunk at it.

Good job on the Portal song. It's much better than other arrangements I've seen. But is there any way you could add lyrics?

While you're at it, could someone re-arrange Fountain of Dreams? There's no key signature, each sharp and flat is marked out. It's hard to read with all of the four-finger chords.

HARD TO FREAKIN PLAY WITH THE CHORDS THAT STRETCH LIKE A 10TH AT THE LEAST.  NOT TO FUN TO PLAY WHEN YOU TEAR HOLES IN YOUR HANDS.

Good point. I just do the octave stretch, but then, I have long fingers too.

If I were to do a speed run it'd probably be Majora's Mask. Even though I've never beaten it once. It just seems like it'd be fun to do a speed run on a game that's almost a speed run anyway.
