Quote from: Yugi on April 07, 2014, 11:28:32 PMHey does anyone want to help me revive this?
Well, I just saved it from being deleted with the reactivation link, does that count?

The LLFTWG Wiki still exists too, although I don't know who owns it so I'm not sure if there can be any sort of easy merger or something of the sort.

But yeah, with Last Life long having been cleansed of any traces of TWG, this forum at NSM was the last surviving bastion of the "Werewolf Game" tradition – that is, the variation with out-of-thread chat and no cardflipping by default, which was probably developed specifically for an online IM-connected audience. I've searched the MU database too, and most of the sites labeled "Werewolf" are either long dead or just a different name for mainstream Mafia.
That is, we're possibly the last bit of evidence that this tradition even existed, outside of super-old games in the FFR archives. That site has long since abandoned the format in favor of mainstream Mafia, and I'm not too sold on the resilience of those archives, given that a couple of updates resulted in the oldest posts on the forum being lost.
So I'm drawing a line in the sand here, and saying we cannot disappear. Even if no-one ever plays what we call "TWG" again, I feel like we've already lost far too much of our history. This tradition seemed to decline at the same time the major waves of innovation and diversification in others were just beginning, and had history taken a few different turns over the last decade or so I'd say we'd be well-poised for synthesizing some of those developments into awesome new TWGs instead of idly scraping about the ruins. But again, if we literally lose everything than it's highly unlikely we'll ever rebuild.

Lastly, I run a Discord server full of mostly old-guard LLF/NSM players who might be interested in dropping in, should the stars align. PM me if you're not already in it and want to join, and perhaps we can better coordinate both this and other efforts.

Obvious MVP obvious. I guess there were a few hindsight mistakes but you played very clean. Only critique is you were a bit "try hard", like that last phase you could of just voted shy and won without doing much else but you took the risk of more elaborate and imo unnecessary plans. But hey makes it a good show and more fun so people play more :] Also was totally not ready for a player good enough to slide into my DMs as a wolf - NSM has a very passive/newbish standard of play so I pretty much assume people actively hunting behind the scenes are human bar Toby so ehehehehe noice
For a moment there I think I convinced myself I was Revoker 😛
It was pretty scary jumping into OOT activity at first, but not only did I want the classic TWG experience, I wanted to build links with townies and fake-sort people (being careful to open one convo at a time over the game, of course – if I was too active in this context it would have been weird for me to not die, I think)
But yeah, I feel that was a big factor in my previous steak of wolf losses – I was timid and lacking in proactivity, wracked by the illusion of transparency. This inevitably resulted in me having nobody in my corner who was not actually on my team, and when somebody loud eventually decided to push my lynch, it was all too easy for the rest of the town to fall in line. I'm glad I muscled through and avoided that, but now I fear that I'll have a much more difficult time in DMs next game 😂

In all seriousness, thanks to everyone for playing this game. Once it got going it was actually plenty fun. It made me feel like a no-responsibility teen again, lol. I lost every single game I was scum in back on the dearly departed TWG forums of Last Life, so this victory is especially satisfying. Definitely some room to improve, though.

The only significant thing about my play that I haven't explained (I think) was that I was in no way banking on the N1P2 quicklynch. It just kinda snowballed out of FireArrow's suspicion. This game would have been a lot different if we had gone with the straightforward option and lynched Shy. N1P2 would have counterclaimed me and simplified Day 3 to a 1v1, and on the very real chance that I lost that battle, there would have been a 1/3 chance that we lost outright from N1P2 nicking davy's kill, and a 2/3 chance of davy fighting another 1v1 in LyLo versus either Funny or BDS. Which wouldn't have been easy.

I think the lessons to be learned here are never to tolerate lynches without a claim, and to a lesser extent any EoD scrambles.

Funnygurl also becomes the manager of a "nature reserve" that really serves as our hunting grounds. She gets a fat salary and huge fluffy hugs.

See, everyone wins!

Oh, welp

It doesn't look like Funnygurl or davy are gonna make it to EOD, so it'll be shy unless he self-pres votes for the second time running (lol)

I will pray for us.
P-EDIT: Or we could rand between the two, that's cool

P-EDIT-EDIT:
Quote from: BlackDragonSlayer on April 18, 2019, 07:53:47 PMOnce again, WHY can davy and Shy not be partners, but me and Shy can be partners? Me and Shy make even less sense together.
Because everyone posted since dave's vote on Shy, and there was no wolf-rush. Meaning that either one must be a wolf

Hard-bussing at this stage is borderline suicidal with me in the game. I either catch them dead to rights or make F3 into a 1v1. There's no way they're letting that happen.

Quote from: ShyYoshiGuy on April 18, 2019, 06:40:10 PMThis is breaking my brain right now. I'm so confused. Anyways, yeah, sounds like a good plan.
In very simple language: Vote BDS. It gives us the maximum chance we make it to Day 4.
If there are 2 wolves alive, you and davy can't be wolves together, and the only plausible pairs left in the pool both contain BDS.If there is 1 wolf alive, and BDS is a mislynch, it still won't end the game.
In either case, I have a chance to win the game outright by Revoking the remaining wolf, or make someone a confirmed human.

Quote from: Funnygurl555 on April 18, 2019, 05:56:40 PMi understand that i'm not cleared, but kai's night action confirmed that there's at least one wolf among you, shy, and davy
Funny is absolutely right about this, btw. We shouldn't vote outside of this pool. Even if we mislynch, there's essentially a 50% chance the game goes on.

The complication is we have a possible, but not 100% confirmed oppositional pair in davy and shy. Usually we resolve this by lynching one of the two. However, I can resolve this bloodlessly, no matter what, due to my power. On Night 4, I revoke one of davy and Shy, and announce which one I target before EON. If there's no kill, gg autowin, we lynch the one I targeted. If there is, I die of course, but whoever I targeted is confirmed innocent in F3, the best possible odds we can pull out of that situation.

And since, given 2 wolves alive, BDS/davy and BDS/shy pairs are both infinitely more likely than shy/davy, the optimal move here is to vote BDS.

Ugh...I am so sorry guys. Today's engagements had me away for longer than expected. Given that there's less than 2 hours to EoD, I doubt I'll be able to do the deep dive into the possibilities that I had planned.

What is certain, however, is that every single player was online and posted in the time since davy voted Shy, and there was no wolf rush. This means one of three things:
  • davy is a wolf
  • shy is a wolf
  • the wolves don't have the numbers to rush, i.e there's only one left.
