Quote from: SlowPokemon on May 26, 2010, 05:29:21 PMAlso, @Ruto - I'm not using Lugia. I have a perfectly good team that I love, however apparently weak it is. As for Signal Beam, I use that with my Ampharos in SoulSilver and my Gardevoir in Platinum and it's beast... But I prefer Megahorn.

It's fine if you don't want to train a Lugia, it was related to the subject of tanks.

Signal Beam was an example of sorts. Exeggcute has a 4x weakness against bugs and very low sp.def but high defense. I tend to avoid 4x weakness types.

I really do like Legendaries since they have really high base stats. Lugia has one of the highest defense stats with decent HP (Shuckle has higher stats in defense but very low HP) and it sounds like a waste not to use. Training wise, I tend to max out only 2 of a Pokemon's stats and most Pokemon are like that---high in only 2 stats.

I do have to say I really like Ninetales and Ampharos though...

Feedback / Re: The future of NSM

Wow I am seriously late to this thread.

I found NSM through youtube actually. I had a sister learning the piano and she was skimming through some videos when someone linked to this site. I am actually not much of a musician, as I've only had a few horrible memories of music class as a kid, singing, playing the recorder and having everyone tease me, but I was really happy when I found this site where I could make up for those crappy experiences :D Also I've been lurking for a while but I finally got an account recently after seeing this Pokemon discussion. The drama was a bit scary sometimes though.

If no one minds, may I suggest that there be an easier way for newcomers to view the sheets? I agree with having pdfs but I'd do something about Finale Reader too. Installing Finale Reader is a pain in the ass, but it is a new way (to my friends to studied music without any computers) to see sheets. But I couldn't convince them to download it unless I made it easy for them by allowing them to access my account, so they'd skip the registration process. What if NSM had an account like that? I have not read the entire terms of service but since this is private use, would the the company mind?

I really think there are some good ideas out there. But arranging does take a lot of time than recording yourself on Youtube. It's going to need a lot more musicians and a lot more people with the tools to do it (Allegro, etc) before it turns into something like ...squaresound? (>>>a random google hit)

Maybe you should include a tank Pokemon. Sweepers are well and good against AI and possibly against other sweepers, but people find a way around everything :D

Try Lugia:

Careful Nature (+SpDef, -SpAtk), high EV in SpDef, Def and HP and IV favoring one of the above, holding Leftovers:

Moves
Toxic
Recover
Whirlwind
Calm Mind/Reflect

Also, playing to strengths is useful. Why not use Meganium for a defensive type/tank instead? Since its Attack/SpAttack is a bit lacking compared to a Sceptile's let's say. Add that with a favoring nature and IV.

Quote from: SlowPokemon on May 24, 2010, 10:46:50 AMI prefer Sp. Attack over Attack also. I picked up Heracross because it's been a while since I trained a Bug or a Fighting type.

Favorite types = Psychic, then Grass. Not a huge Exeggcute fan though. XD

One hit with Signal Beam and it's over XD

Quote from: Taser9090 on May 24, 2010, 03:32:58 PMI didn't really like the water routes, I couldn't use my fire or rock type Pokemon. And I also didn't like how they got lazy to make the  Pokemon animations in R/S.

The gameplay was fun, I even played it three times, for the past 2 years. I can't play Pearl without being bored for the next month.

I didn't like the animations much :D. When it was introduced in Crystal, it took too much extra time for me. Not sure about it in the later games but I always think animations take too long.

Ruby is the game (second to Leafgreen) where I completed the entire region dex and caught every possible Pokemon in national dex (excluded Celebi). It was actually possible in that game, but in D/P/Pt, even trying to see every Pokemon made me wanna puke. It became a chore. And I thought they would probably make it so rain would have some effect on planted berries.

Quote from: SlowPokemon on May 24, 2010, 01:42:59 PMOkay. Looking back, there is one thing that irritates me about gen III:
There were SO MANY water routes. Not that that's always a bad thing; but those Tentacool can be pretty darn irritating. The other thing is Sceptile - Grass-Type starters are my favorites. But Sceptile - despite the fact that I choose him most of the time - is weak compared to his partners. Blaziken is unfairly strong, and Swampert has an amazing Type combination. Sceptile's Speed is one of the highest in the games, but does that really account for it?

:P

They made speed more important, but I really hated how the fire type was ALWAYS the best and the only set without 4x weaknesses. Swampert is 4x weak against Grass, Torterra weak against Ice and Empoleon could be easily beaten by Infernape. The only good attack Sceptile had was Leaf Blade.

A browse through the website shows that Namco Bandai (Soul Calibur, Tekken, lots of other games) is going to be there:

http://www.e3expo.com/

Obviously Nintendo too. I didn't see Marvelous there (Harvest Moon). It's not that I hate the games but the glitches are so annoying.

In addition to Nightmare getting a new badass look, I'd like to see more final bosses and modes in SC. I want something like Night Terror back, select a weapon without going to character creation and a real museum mode.  Also, a better movelist for Raphael...why should he forget some of his moves just so Amy could have them? The dialogue could also be a bit better. The voiceover and voice actors sounded asleep compared to II and III.

And also Zelda Wii. I'm thinking of getting a Wii just to play it if the trailer's convincing enough.  But right now, all I want to know is the game's place in the "timeline" and who that girl is.

Quote from: Oni-Link on May 22, 2010, 06:15:26 AMPlease let these words be true.

OH YES.

Let's see, first he was a chunky looking red-armored version of Siegfried, then he got his blue armor and demon claw, then a horn on top of that, then some gaseous hellfire aura. Suppose giving him 2 claws would be next? Wings? A more badass Soul Edge (>>Night Terror)?

I've always used Siegfried more, but I'll have to admit he was the coolest with Nightmare's movelist in SC2.

Quote from: Oni-Link on May 21, 2010, 11:12:55 PMThe best way is to go to Whittleton village and use your whirlwind on the patches of grass and boulders all around the village. Also go up the upper-right path of Whittleton village, and use the whirlwind on these too, and go back and repeat.
I got like, 45 demon fossils in half an hour.

I've done that but I think the frequency of items varies game to game. I've found only one like that and the rest through lotteries. I do have LOTS of stalfos skulls and goron ambers.

ZELDA WII! I swear that art is making me obsessed with it.

There's talk of Soul Calibur V in the GameFAQs forum but the creators did say they weren't planning to make any more. That was before they released Broken Destiny. >_>
SCIV was a disappointment really. Hope SCV would come out and have a decent story.

Quote from: Oni-Link on May 21, 2010, 03:53:41 PMI really was unsure about Spirit Tracks, but I'm a direhard Zelda fan, so I bought it. I wasn't dissapointed, but the Train segments were pretty boring unless you had the Skull parts.
I LOVE using the whistle on the skull train to make up songs. It sounds like a mixture of the electric guitar and the bagpipes

I have to try that...hard to get demon fossils in my game for some reason. I drive a candy train.  :D

It sounds like ice cream truck bells.

Quote from: KefkaticFanatic on May 19, 2010, 10:56:39 PMIt's just depressing.  Like when I went to a Wal Mart in Virginia and saw how 90% of the people there were horribly obese.
Ugh.  I was just sitting depressed the rest of the day, I mean really, WTF HUMANITY.

LMAO. Even a few hours from a large city everyone becomes so homogeneous. If I were you, I'd avoid the comments on civil rights, foreign affairs articles on Yahoo. OMG, the hate and ignorance.

Quote from: Taser9090 on May 21, 2010, 03:59:26 PMDoes anyone know a good place to train Pokemon that are level 30? I'm not IV training, I just want a general place.
I want to train in Mt. Silver, but my Pokemon are obviously weak.

I really like training in the patch of grass between Celadon and Saffron in Kanto. In Johto, I would fight in the mountain path (beneath Blackthorn City) and near the Johto Safari Zone for those Pokemon weak against Graveler. That place has mostly Grass types.

Hmm...I got a copy of Finale notepad and I've managed to do "Healing Winds" so far.  So I fulfilled one of my own requests lol. As for Ephemeral Dream, the MIDI prgram I use is not working for this computer >.<

Quote from: Roz~ on May 11, 2010, 03:33:06 PMYes, that's what I meant. As Dude said, the internal battery died. But it's actually pretty easy to change your game's battery, so you might want to try. Now my old gold's brand new :D

And I think GS graphics were and still are pretty badass. I grew up with the snes, so I just love them. Imho they are a lot better than the RSE ones. Just because it had improved so much since RBY made me love them... finally the Pokemon looked cool! (At least to me.) And yeah, I agree that yellow was a pretty good game. I loved the fact that I could have the same team as Ash without having to trade with friends.

There was a nice soft quality to them. RSE's color palette was like a green and pink explosion. More like emerald green and mauve, aka the best way to ruin both green and pink...ergh.  The font was the worst in the series but at least they took care of the excessive spacing.

In addition to having Ash's team, I liked Pikachu following you and that little Pikachu window, Team Rocket, stuff based on the show, a lot of the Pokemon graphics. Oh the memories. It was my second Pokemon game :)

Quote from: dahans on May 10, 2010, 10:15:31 PMMy old silver editions still works perfectly... However, I do not really like remakes, I don't know why. Unfortunately I cannot force my little sister to play pokemon silver :(.^^

Lucky you. I bought that game in ToysRUs and it died in less than a year. I was a kid and didn't think about warranties, hardware failures, screwdrivers. Just thought it was my fault. :(
Of course you can't force little sisters to play Pokemon Silver...! Who uses disposable batteries anymore? And those graphics?

But I really like remakes with improved whatsits, but they haven't made the remake of my favorite Pokemon game and I don't think they ever will. POKEMON YELLOW. Best rendering of Pikachu and all the starters, had the same feel as the first season of the show...the memories. Bah. Now I feel old.

Quote from: Cobraroll on May 09, 2010, 06:35:59 AMActually, it's not impossible. Just that the chance is very, very small.

Well I don't have time to write up the formula in a spreadsheet but this online one says:

0.416% chance per ball, approximately 241 balls needed on average

(For that Azelf, if a Pokeball was used)

The formula seems reasonable but in the end it DOES just give a probability. My cousin told me that Pokeball thing when I was playing his game and using his money to buy Ultra Balls. He said, why are you wasting my money? Pokeballs work on anything. I told him to prove it.  AND HE CAUGHT IT on his 3rd ball D:

HGSS is actually really good despite the difficulty in growing berries.  Dunno if this happened to anyone else, but did the old GS versions stopped being able to save? I caught a Lugia in the first save file, then it got deleted for some strange reason. I didn't know what was wrong so I started another file and got to Kanto again. And it deleted itself again. After that I stopped playing it. That's what you meant by it "not working" right?
#4425
LOL no.  Just meant that it was better to have a formula so you can make reasonable guesses. But where does that Pokeball-Azelf thing turn into? (I have to check out the formula first.)

Back when it took 2 hours to catch Lugia at 1 HP and asleep...I'd rather not have that again. I'd also like to be able to predict its stats by nature, IV calculator and EVs. Waaay better than the old times where there was no way to do that.
