Fulfilled requests / Re: Detective Conan Theme
June 11, 2008, 10:12:07 PM
I remember this. It was when grimace liked it and was willing to give lots of navis for it. I finished it in the past, but nsm went down. Lol you must've been so impatient all these months. Here's my arrangement. It is finished. Wait's over lol. Don't know how good you are with piano, but it isn't for beginners. I improvised the song so it would sound better for piano, and it does.

Meitantei Conan

Btw, I have no clue who the composer is.

Taking summer classes now. I'll be very, very busy. Megan will take charge. But even she's not here... Who wants to be a temporary master orchestrator while I'm gone? Do continue on this project while I'm gone though. I gotta hear MH26's metroid/SSBM medley and the Mario sunshine combo medley as well as other combinations and medleys.

Yes. I can just change the key sig when it's time to use it. Lol I think it's starting to become a Mario suite XD I can't seem to get out of there (been over 6 min now). Mario is probably hypnotizing me from Mushroom Kingdom lmao. Mario's evil. Speaking of evil, you guys gotta listen to my dark overworld theme for evil mario at apollomix. It's funny.

Oh well. I'm still trying to learn it (I put Ice's and Pearcinator's arrangements together). It's a cool song.

My arrangement actually. Pearcinator had mine before nsm went down. Wow you guys are still at it? I thought it'd be done by now especially with Ice here. Is it done?

I made the mp3 using Adobe Audition (it aint free). LAME is another high-quality mp3 converter that's free.

@Brawler. Try working with the melody alone. Choose the dominant song you're going to use. Then ensure that other songs follow it. This requires altering the notation of course.

You didn't by any chance just pulled the notation out of a midi and pasted it in there did you? It doesn't sound right. Do you have knowledge of music theory? It may help you put them together. It doesn't have to sound exactly as it is, but should be familiar. The melody is the utmost important part of a song than anything else. Disregard the chords and bass and choose one that fits. The guitar chords in Delfino Plaza was a very bad choice. It clashes with the melody.

Download my incomplete game medley mp3 to see how I combined different themes. The Underwater theme (SMB) and overworld theme from SMW was put together at 00:29-00:49. You'll notice the pizzicato strings are playing the overworld theme from SMW, but not exactly. However it is still noticeable.  The underwater theme was going to be my primary medley so other themes must obey its chording unless changed by the composer's discretion (ei. at 00:48 it was Emaj so I changed it to Cmaj). I also added bits of the sun song (LoZ) in there too. Overall do not be afraid to alter its form.

PS: I haven't seen Megan in awhile. You still there?

You guys gotta listen to this. Took me a couple days to get my ideas across. Anyways I extracted them from midis like vgmusic and got the arrangements from my pre-made arrangements that I've arranged in the past as well as NSM (G-han's arrangements were a pain in the ass no offense). All mario and only 1 Zelda. I'm having a tough time trying to transition to a different franchise... oh well. I looked everywhere for a midi of "Everyone's a Super Star" from Mario Party, but to no avail so I just cut out a piece of the original song and pasted it in there. I just listened to rainbow road from Mario Kart Wii and it sounds exactly like Good Egg Galaxy. So... I'm going to use that in between Good Egg/Gusty Garden Galaxy and Everyone's a Super Star/Super Mario RPG medley. Just to note that this is only a template. Do not tell me it's missing percussion, there's no bass, etc.

After 6 min when it cuts off, Super Mario Sunshine will go there as mentioned above. After that I hope I transition to a different game. Too much Mario lol.

Requesting Delfino Plaza, Bianco Hills, and Ricco Harbor all combined into one (playing simultaneously). Do not copy everything note for note or else it will sound wrong. Use music theory to pick the right chording. Also requesting the main theme for NEW Super Mario Bros. and music from Mario Kart Wii.

Do you have the SSBB ost?

D05 - Metroid Prime - Samus' Theme Song
W30 - Smash Bros Melee - Menu 1

There are so many variations to it, but the melody should be the same. Try to use all different variations if you can.

Whoops I meant SSBM, not SSBB. Though it can be found in SSBB.

hmm..
the mix itself is good but back up
werent we doing a suite from one franchise?
but if we're doing this ill just do this since ur the top boss

You thought we were doing only one franchise from beginning to end? Lol sorry if I wasn't clear in the beginning. I called it a "video game" suite. Video game as in every franchise there is into one suite as much as possible. The purpose is to please the audience; I'm doing it for the audience, not for self interest. If you did only one franchise, somebody in that audience isn't going to know what the heck you're playing. So... a video game suite will play several franchises and I hope they will recognize some tunes besides the popular mario theme. Now I really need you guys to pick out songs that will match up pretty well. The metroid theme and SSBB were the best match so I'll leave it to MH26. The battle theme from FF6 and FF? (also found in super mario rpg) are also good matches. I also found a good match for the main theme of fire emblem, but I forgot what it was XD. Another thing, try to stay away from using percussion as a means of transitioning from one theme to another. It really sounds bad. *cough* Sonic 1 and 2 staff roll *cough*.

template? it's only an example. But it could turn out to be the real thing. who knows lol.

Quote from: HugoMeister on May 24, 2008, 01:04:15 PMSo wait...its random bits of songs strung together? I was under the impression we'd do an entire song from a game, and then transition into another one. :P

I don't know what would the co-orchestrator's job would be since it's so difficult to stick with one game all the time. You may still do so if you wish. But how can you resist if one theme sounds like another theme from a different game :D So yeah... I decided to make it random. I'm trying to locate similarities between different games. That mp3 sample is just an example.

@MH26: can you put those 2 themes together?
