I've mainly been watching the VODs afterwards, the event schedule hasn't really been agreeing with my schedule.

Site News / Happy New Year 2016!
January 01, 2016, 02:34:50 AM
On behalf of the NSM staff, I wish you all a happy new year!

As the NSM community grows, the need for more people to keep things running increases as well. Because of this, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the two new members of the NSM staff braixen1264 and Dudeman, who have joined the moderator team that keeps our forums in order.

Oh, and if you haven't visited our forums yet, make sure to do so. We'd love to have more people join our community.

Quote from: ZeldaFan on December 27, 2015, 09:55:53 PMI feel like everyone around me is moving on with their lives and I'm still here, single, in college, not knowing what to do with it.
Mehhhhh.....

I can relate, not in regards to career but relationships. Not to rant but...Oh wait *checks topic* Never mind, here goes.

At some point I realized that there are hardly any single people among my group of friends. This is also further reinforced by my Facebook feed which looks something like this:

Engaged
Engaged
Married
In a relationship
Engaged
Baby
In a relationship
...

When I registered to Facebook back in 2008 I set my relationship status to Single. After that, I have never changed it.

It's starting to get a bit depressing. I mean, when my friends and I went to see the new Star Wars, I was the seventh wheel in the group.

You don't.

To use myself as an example: In high school I thought I'd want to teach math. However, shortly before applying for universities I figured out that math is too theoretical, I'd like to do something more practical. So I decided to apply to an university of technology. Which field should I choose? I don't know, electrical engineering could be interesting?

So now I am studying electrical engineering. Not sure why, but that appears to be the case now. Which major should I choose? Electronics sounds good, maybe that. A minor as well? Automation? Sure.

I've now studied in the university for three years. I need a job. Turns out that this department of radio engineering has a trainee position open. Oh, there are several positions. I need to rank them in order I would prefer. RFID...? Let's just put RFID as the preferred option.

Oops. Turns out radio engineering is damn interesting. Electronics and automation? Meh. Better switch my major to radio engineering. Oh? Apparently there is still work available in the research group. Might as well continue working there. Hm, it appears I've graduated. A PhD position you say? Right now that sounds like the best idea ever.

So here I am, working to become Dr. Jamaha. In 3-4 years I should defend my dissertation and then what? A post-doc in a foreign university? R&D in some of the large telecommunications companies? Found a company? I don't have the slightest idea (well, I do, but I don't know how well that translates to reality in 4 years), and that's okay.

In my opinion you don't really need to have a grand plan for your life. Just keep doing things you think you'd like and you hopefully drift to a place in life where you are happy.

Saw the new Star Wars. The worldwide premiere was on Wednesday so I had been avoiding any possible sources of spoilers for the past few days. Feels good not to have to worry about spoilers.

I had to move so that took quite a lot of time.

Everything is still in chaos around here but at least I have my computer working again.

VR is cool.

That's a rather harsh way to put it. Did I say that?

It's just that features like that are on hold at the moment. With Deku leaving and me having practically no free time (well, free time for NSM) making updates to the NSM Panel is rather slow. I'll try to get things sorted once my workload reduces a bit and my other activities go on a break. That should happen in a month or so.

Turns out a good night's sleep does wonders. Sorry for the mundane end result.

Made it. The entire trip from my home to the hotel took over 16 hours. Travel planning level: Terrible.

I almost feel like skipping tomorrow's lectures and just sleeping all day.

Sorry, my flight was leaving and I had no choice.

Still waiting for the train. I want to get to the hotel so bad...I need sleep.

Now. Bye.

I don't really have time to meet with anyone, I was rather looking for guidance because OH GOD I'M GOING TO FRANCE ALONE AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING
