This leaves the throne open when I sit on it.

Sonic is often too fast; his opponents can use his speed to their advantage by attacking him before he has a chance to stop. If you're playing as a character like Bowser or Ganondorf, then you can't attack him very well (or avoid his attacks) but other characters don't suffer this problem.
Lucas is a punching bag. More than twice, I've avoided his final smash completely (once on Final Destination, once on his home stage, and I forget where else). Ike and Marth can use their counterattacks to deflect pretty much all of Lucas's attacks without even putting any effort into it (at least for me ). Pit and Samus have the range to keep Lucas at bay; Link has the power.

And while we're on the subject of Brawl characters:
Personally, I think that Luigi is a better fighter than Mario; Mario is more just a balanced fighter, but Luigi has slightly different feel (a bit easier to control, I'd say). When it comes in terms of their final smashes, however, it's about equal.
