Finale Notepad seems to hate me; I already have the song semi-arranged on another program, but I can't seem to transcribe it over that well to Finale. It's surprisingly difficult to work with. :o

Epic! Too bad I haven't played Super Mario 3D Land yet...

Uh, I have a quick question concerning the copyright of the main menu theme sheet:
The company that developed the game, New World Computing, went out of business in 2003 (or rather, was dragged down by the 3DO Company) and the license was sold to Ubisoft. I was wondering who the copyright should be listed for: New World Computing, its parent organization, or Ubisoft?  ???

Quote from: BlackDragonSlayer on June 14, 2012, 01:14:08 PMAnother thing! A MIDI for the Main Menu theme is available at VGMusic: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/other/miscellaneous/piano/index-gr.html
You may want to use that as a sort of "base" to start out with.

If I download Finale Notepad 2012 (and have enough time on my hands), then I'll arrange the Main Menu theme.

Quote from: fabbemannen on June 19, 2012, 04:18:32 AMbtw, did anyone download the 3D trailers for LM2, PM:SS and NSMB2?
Luigi's Mansion's 3D was really impressive actually

Uh, yeah, my older brother and I downloaded all the trailers on our 3DS. The only problem with Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is that the trailer looks a bit buggy- hopefully something they'll fix in the actual game.

Help! / Re: If I wanted to help with arranging...

Quote from: Bespinben on June 19, 2012, 12:01:59 AMIdeally, you should use Finale software to make arrangements, since all submissions require an .mus file to get to the main site. Finale Notepad 2012 is free, btw.

An MUS file is simply the project document of any score produced in Finale, much like how a DOCX file is the project document of a paper written in Microsoft Word 2007.
A MID file (or Midi), is a barebones file of pure note and rhythm data of a song, and is understood universally by almost all computers. However, because the file contains only information pertaining to notes and rhythms, it retains no details about the visual aspects of the sheet music. A MIDI file can be created in Finale when you finish your score.
A PDF can be easily produced by using a third-party pdf creator. I recommend PrimoPDF. What you do is when you finish your score in Finale, go to Print, and set PrimoPDF as the printer, thus sending the score to the program and making a PDF out of it.

This is the page containing the formatting rules for all submissions: http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=481.0

Thank you very much! :D
I'll be trying to arrange a theme I requested. :P

Help! / If I wanted to help with arranging...

So... if I wanted to help with arranging:
  • What software should I use?
  • How would I make a PDF, MUS, or MID file?

Also, I would prefer it if you could give me a link to the proper formatting used for NinSheetMusic's sheets. Thank you.

Quote from: SlowPokemon on June 16, 2012, 12:47:20 PMWell the Wii U is basically a glorified Wii, so I don't see that getting much better.

It depends on how Nintendo approaches it... don't encourage games like that, instead, maybe make room for some good indie games? For example, have you seen that experimental game where you can shrink stuff and make it grow again, then make it larger, etc.?

Quote from: MaestroUGC on June 15, 2012, 07:48:05 PMI see great potential for the Wii U, it's up to the developers to waste it.

That's, quite unfortunately, true.
The motion controls of the Wii were wasted on terrible third-party games that used motion controls in the most gimmicky ways imaginable. I don't think that they took the Wii very seriously; after all, the console's main form of control is motion (and we've seen what has happened with Kinect and even PS Move).
Hopefully, the potential of the Wii U isn't as 'exploitable' for the third-party developers.

Quote from: KefkaticFanatic on June 15, 2012, 03:30:09 PMNo forums allow triple posting.  The proper way to do it is to have multiple quotes in a single post.

Also, "I NEVER SAID THAT" is not a valid rebuttal.

I'm used to quoting each person individually... I'm still new here, so I don't know too much about how the forum works.

"The act of refuting something by making a contrary argument, or presenting contrary evidence." Yes, it is a valid rebuttal, at least by the technical definition: it is stating that the person's source is inaccurate, and, by extension, what they said about me.
I am willing to show respect in a debate unless the person deliberately misquotes me with the intention of (in some cases, maliciously) furthering their arguement or discrediting me.

Quote from: SuperFireKirby on June 15, 2012, 03:06:26 PMYour basing your opinion of a game off of how much you like the characters in Super Smash Bros.? -_-

You know what? You don't deserve an opinion so I'm not even going to argue with you.

 >:( I NEVER SAID THAT. You seem to insist on misinterpretting every single word I say.
Certainly someone who can't even get another person's words right isn't able to argue?  :-\

Quote from: MaestroUGC on June 15, 2012, 01:51:34 PMWhat does Brawl have anything to do with franchises that might be brought over to the Wii U?

I doubt we will see anthing new from Earthbound anytime soon, quite possibly ever. As far as Nintendo other big franchises go, Zelda nor a 3D Mario were launch titles for the Wii, but they did come to great success. I'd rather wait for those few great games when the developers understand the fullest potential of this new system, rather than put out a lack luster product.

Sure, these few announced launch titles leave much to be desired, but keep in mind, there is still another five months for any meaningful announcements regarding games.

Well, first, we were talking about what we wanted to see on the Wii U, which lead to Earthbound, which lead to a discussion of SSBB. At least it's still Nintendo related...

As many have said, if these are the titles that will come out early on, imagine what will come out later? Many of the launch titles of the PS3 were rather mediocre, and yet look at the games now! Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, Playstation All Stars Battle Royale (coming soon), Arkham Asylum and City (as were mentioned earlier), and even the download games like the Pixeljunk series, Comet Crash, and titles from previous games, including many Final Fantasy games.

Quote from: Zunawe on June 15, 2012, 01:23:24 PMTechnically, don't most of those ideas apply to. . . any player. Excluding the PK attack of course.

Let's take Ike, for example (one of my favorite characters to use): He doesn't move too fast, deals TONS of damage, can take some hits before he's knocked back, and has a "finisher" final smash, although it does miss sometimes. Almost like a slightly lighter Ganondorf or Bowser.
He's better on stages like Final Destination, where his opponents can't run from him; where he can smash them up, and knock them off with a powerful blow (his counterattack also comes in handy in such close quarters combat). On larger stages, characters like Pit can easily hide and attack him as he's trying to march toward them.

Meta Knight, often considered on of the best characters, although good, is quite overhyped...
He's very fast, and is good on most stages, but with speed comes inaccuracy. If he misses even once, it leaves him vulnerable to an attack from characters like Ike or Donkey Kong; and with one attack comes a full fury. A master player can slay opponents with him, but they must be careful against others of their skill. I'm still a little on-the-edge with Meta Knight, and haven't brought him to such full potential.

Ah, how we've strayed far from the original discussion... :P
