Projects / 🫧🌊Aquatic Update🌊🫧
June 19, 2024, 12:25:00 PM
There may be a heat wave, but it's time to cool off a bit!  After deciding by vote, it's time for the arrangers of NinSheetMusic to take a swim through some water-themed video game piano arrangements.

How to participate:
  • Create a new thread in the Projects board called [<insert username here>'s Aquatic Update Project Sheets]  In the first post in that thread you will need to keep an up to date list of the sheets you have submitted as well as links to the original tracks (just like in submissions).  This is where feedback for your arrangements will go.  You can also go to other arranger's threads to leave feedback of your own, which we highly encourage!
  • The sheets submitted must fit the theme of aquatic, which should be taken to mean tracks involving water levels, aquatic environments, events such as fishing, and even tracks with water themed names.  If in doubt about whether your idea is suitable, feel free to ask here in this thread.  We generally try to be lenient to an extent, but remember that the purpose is to put together a coherent update.  Of course, there is no requirement to arrange new sheets for this update, but you can if you want to.
  • PM Latios212 with your email address so that you can access the Dropbox folder where we will be hosting all of the sheets (if you already have access from a previous project, this step is unnecessary).  You should upload submitted sheets (just the .mus or .musx is fine) to this folder yourself, and keep them up to date when changes are made.
  • Like last time, there will be a limit of 2 submissions per arranger for this project, although this number is subject to changes by the updating team if your submissions are very complex (we may limit you to one submission) or very simple (we may allow more than two submissions).  Remember that decisions about changing the submissions limit are purely up to the updating team's discretion, although we are happy to hear your input.

The deadline for submissions is before midnight, two weeks from now, Wednesday, July 3rd at 11:59 PM EST.  We will accept no sheets that are submitted after this time.

Please note, as with previous projects, we cannot guarantee that every sheet you submit before the deadline will eventually make it into the update.  To maximize the chances of your sheets being accepted, you should ensure they are as high quality as you can make them (arranging within your skill level will help here) and you should make sure to respond promptly to feedback in your thread.  Feel free to ask about the project or the project submissions process here, if you have any questions.

Good luck, and let's reel in some great sheets!

Now that summer has begun, we are kicking off the search for what the next NinSheetMusic project will be! For the newer folks, a project update is an update based around a single theme (see past examples Too Hot to Handle and Space). The nomination period will be open from now until June 12th 3 PM US East Coast; each user can suggest one theme in the thread here.  The restrictions are the same as they always are:

  • The theme cannot be limited to a single game/series or musical style.
  • No duplicates of previous themes (space, colors, etc.)

The best themes are the ones that are easily applicable to many different types of video games and musical styles, whilst also being coherent.  If you want to see the previous nomination thread, you can find it here.

Like previous times, the updaters will draft a shortlist of project options before the community vote.  This is to simplify the voting and to ensure that the options will be the ones most viable as an arrangement project focus.  Once the shortlist is announced, the voting will be open for around five days.  After that, submissions will open for a fixed time period (more details to come when nominations are closed).

Some other notable things this update:

We would also like to announce that the next update will coincide with the site's 20th anniversary. Hope to see you there!

Citadark Island - Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness
[Dropbox]

Spoiler
[close]

This is one I've had on my radar for a while - track plays on a volcanic island where you fight the game's final boss. Admittedly second page felt like it needed to turn into a duet with everything going on in the original but I think for m17-18 in particular I did the best you can with what goes on in the track. Still open to alternative ideas if anyone thinks there's a better way to go about it!

Magmoor Caverns Entrance - Metroid Prime

Don't think I'm going to have time to get through Team Flare in time for the deadline, so going with something significantly simpler. I've also made a small key signature update in my XD sheet, from Bb to Eb for the final third or so of the arrangement.

Project Archive / 🔥Too Hot To Handle🔥Update
August 09, 2023, 01:46:54 PM
Time to turn up the heat!  After electing to do so, NinSheetMusic's arrangers will be cooking, literally, with the Too Hot To Handle theme.

How to participate:
  • Light your flame by creating a new thread in the Projects board called [<insert username here>'s Too Hot To Handle Project Sheets]  In the first post in that thread you will need to keep an up to date list of the sheets you have submitted as well as links to the original tracks (just like in submissions).  This is where feedback for your arrangements will go.  You can also go to other arranger's threads to leave feedback of your own, which we highly encourage!
  • The sheets submitted must fit the theme of heat, which should be taken to mean tracks involving high temperatures in some manner, hot levels, volcanoes, deserts, fires, the sun, etc. Not... er... a character that lights a fire in gamers' hearts.

Good luck, and don't burn up!

Tears of the Kingdom has been out for nearly three months, but it was only recently that the first track from the game made it on site.

While I myself haven't played the game nor listened to its soundtrack that much, I felt compelled by recent feedback and the arrival of the first sheet on site to try and coordinate arrangements for this massive game.

However, so far we don't have a true OST list for the game, so this cumulative list will have to do for now. I suppose people can announce claims here, or point out when a definitive OST is found (preferably excluding BoTW tracks). I'll do my best to update this list as new arrangements are submitted

Well, it's been a good while since we've had one, but the time is now for another special update! For the newer folks, a special update is an update based around a single theme (see past examples Space and Colors). The nomination phase will be open until August 2nd 10 PM EST; each user can suggest one theme in the thread here.  The restrictions are the same as they always are:

  • The theme cannot be limited to a single game/series or musical style.
  • No duplicates of previous themes (space, colors, etc.)

Like last time, before voting begins the updaters will draft a shortlist of the options first.  This is to simplify the voting and also to ensure that the options will be the ones most viable as the focus of an arrangement project.  Once the shortlist is announced, the voting will be open for around five days.  After that, submissions will open for a fixed period of time (more details to come when nominations are closed).

First time launching new sheets onto the site!

*Turn on the light*

"So, this is the updating room... what is this place?"

*Trips on a stack of archived submissions, knocking over a cabinet full of replaced sheets*

"I...I... I'm okay!"

*Getting up, accidentally pull down a website banner strewn across the desk, causing a Code Monkey cage to fall onto my head, knocking me out cold*

*3 hours pass*

"Hey... are you going to do the update? It's almost midnight here."

*Get up, run over to the console (yes there is a console for updating)*

"In a minute!"

Alright time for an update... qwerty... wasd... ctrl, alt, del, now what does this button d-

Project Archive / Kricketune's Halloween Sheet
October 09, 2022, 03:19:00 PM
Kirby Halloween sheet going strong into its 3rd year for me!

The intro was definitely the toughest part to come up with.

Not every part in the intro lines up exactly how it is in the intro, specifically that the second measure has a rest before the tremolos (the thinking being that would give the player time to play the run with both hands and to then do the tremolos) as well as the second run in m5 technically happens at the same time of the notes of the previous measure.

Additional Notes

m19, 21, and 23 the LH is a combination of the harp and the low quarter note strings (harp part is down an octave from the original), but I felt m20, 22, and 24 worked better feeling a bit more static (the harp notes don't blend as well here either).

m26 I didn't think the harp run fit well so I added chord notes underneath the melody in the RH.

m33 beat 4 reorganized this chord

Just in the nick of time  :-X

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron - The Hangar [Original]

Star Fox: Assault - Hostiles Revisted (Replacement for Sargasso Space Hideout)[Original]

Only thing that comes to mind is beat 1 of m28,30,32 in the Assault sheet is an invented rhythm pattern, this section is somewhat sparse on applicable rhythms for the LH. Files are in Dropbox

Feedback / Project Theme Ideas
January 12, 2022, 10:31:53 AM
Had some ideas wanted to put out there, and well, either write it down or lose it forever as a whisper in the wind...

Year 20XX  - Calling it this because it sounds cool (obviously the update name would be different per the year you decide on), but the idea would be to pick a decade or a specific year as a project theme.

Speaking more recently, maybe you like 2021 for games (Deltarune Chp 2, Bowser's Fury, Metroid Dread, BDSP etc.)?  Or 2017 (BoTW, Mario Odyssey, Nier Automata, Cuphead)?  Obviously I named off some of the bigger titles of those years and those likely don't cover everyone's interest, so perhaps the decade idea works better.  That way it's not also limited to consoles or platform like an arcade only or Nintendo 64 one would be (though both I like  :) ).

NSM Updates to Chill and Study To - This update seems pretty self explanatory.  Arrange music that is relaxing, most likely lower tempo, and with pleasant keys and chords.  Could kinda frame it as a playlist type update hahah

Miscellaneous Arrangements / Kricketune's Emporium
December 14, 2021, 09:01:19 AM
Starting this thread today to clean my PA thread up a bit, but also to create this as a showcase for other musical arrangements that don't really fit that topic.

Let's start this first with the Kricketune Cry piano sheet; gonna do a file update to these at some point

Instead, here's another Trick or Treat from the Pink Puffball, or rather his deranged robed opponent (or is he?)

Music / Interesting Animal Crossing Motif Reference
August 29, 2021, 02:42:52 PM
Wouldn't consider myself a huge series fan of Animal Crossing, but thought this was interesting to post about:

at 1:08 in the title theme of the first game, there's this Db Ab Eb F rhythm.

At 0:16 in the New Horizons theme, you get this same sequence of notes, but a slightly different rhythm.

Again, not very knowledgeable of the series as a whole, but thought this was an interesting musical reference, and I haven't heard it mentioned before.  Maybe some of you out there are more familiar with the series, and could point out other motif references carried throughout series themes

So I had only just submitted this sheet last night
Kirby Triple Deluxe - Reflected Laughter

Should I delete the submission topic then and upload the files to the Halloween project folder?

Help! / Medley Question for Finale NotePad
August 31, 2020, 10:00:40 PM
I'm thinking of making a medley with just two songs and envision it to look like this.  Is this possible in Finale NotePad or am I going to need to have two separate .mus files and have a real Finale user do the merging?

Feedback / NinSheetMusic MIDI Youtube Playlist!
August 13, 2020, 09:58:40 AM
Sometimes, I just wish I could hear a ton of arrangements all at once.  I know this might sound a little silly to some, but I do get enjoyment out of listening to the piano midis that come from people's sheets.

That's why I'd like to propose to NinSheetMusic the idea of making YouTube videos that could act as playlists - it could be by series, console, arrange, or a certain theme (calming, study, etc.)... basically a vision to create something similar to stuff like LoFi hip hop compilations.

I know that there are concerns about midis and using them without attribution, but having a NinSheetMusic compilation with each arranger attributed would eliminate that, and if everything was centralized on the site's official YouTube channel.  It would seemingly be pretty easy to edit them together, combining PDF images with the midi to make the videos (and maybe using Synthesia if someone has that).
