So I think I'll go ahead and throw in a game to host with my old Mephistopheles concept.

TWG XLIII: My Name is Mephistopheles

X Players:
3 Wolves (red) - The wolf team knows who each other are.
Faust - Seer* (blue)
Gretchen - Guardian* (blue)
X Humans (green)

*There's a 50/50 chance for seering and guardings to be effective. A coin flip will occur between the two roles and the winner's power will work. The other player will be told their power was unsuccessful.

Let's make a deal,

I have three of my agents scattered amongst you, the goal of the game is to seek them out and kill them. I have given to you, and only by the Grace of God, two allies to help you in this task. I'd rather have nothing more to do with these people, but my hands here are tied.

Your allies aren't terribly effective though, but I'm no monster so I'm willing to shift the balance. You want something to help you, and I can help you get it. I don't care what it is, and you don't care how you get it. There is a catch, though, as nothing in this world comes for free.

This is not an ordinary game of TWG, as each player can make a deal with the devil for any reason at any time. You can make a deal for whatever you wish, and I will tell you what it will cost you. I can deny any deal I wish, and you can only have one contract at a time.
Be creative in your deals, you can get anything your heart desires. There are a few ground rules, however; a few deals that the powers that be will not permit me to make:

 - You cannot kill anybody; no insta-lynchings or additional wolfings.
 - You cannot violate the laws of time and space, no phase extensions or reductions.
 - You cannot resurrect anybody; I'm not in the saving business, death is permanent.
 - You cannot prevent other players from being able to make deals.
 - You cannot change victory conditions; the wolves win when their number equal the humans, and humans win when all the wolves are dead.

I have a few ground rules of my own that you should understand before making a deal. I may not be holy, but I never said I wasn't fair:

 - All deals revolve around fair trade; something must give for you to get.
 - I get to decide what is given up for you to get what you want, and you will be told the cost, but not who will pay it or how.
 - Once the deal is struck, it is final; you cannot back out of it for any reason.
 - You cannot ask for information regarding deals with other players.

Making a Deal:
If you want to make a deal, all you have to do is call me via PM:

"I, [insert name], wish for [the deal you wish to strike] to be executed in the following manner:
List the details."
I will reply:
"I, Mephistopheles, agree to grant [name] the [deal you wish to make] in the following manner:
Details,
At the cost of [to be determined]."

All you have to do then is reply with the phrase "I agree to this contract" and give your signature, or state that the deal is off. Once the deal is struck it will be given an identification number, randomly generated, and all parties will refer to it as such from that point on.

I advise you to be as clear and detailed as possible, otherwise you will give me the right to execute the deal in any manner I see fitting. If you feel I haven't lived up to my end of the bargain, you can take your case to the thread and allow them to resolve it by popular consensus through a jury of the damned. Whatever they decide will be final and I will abide by it. You cannot strike the same deal twice, if you back out from an earlier deal you cannot ask me about it later.

Once more to be perfectly clear:
You cannot discuss any aspect of these deals with anybody. You cannot tell anybody that you've struck a deal, the nature of a deal, or question other players about deals they might've had.

Jury of the Damned:
Comprised of all deceased players, it is their duty to decide the legitimacy of the claim against the host and look over all material pertaining to the issue. This happens in real-time and will not interrupt the game, meaning whenever they reach a decision is when they reach a decision. No deadlines, no idle periods of play. Once the player announces he has an issue with me, I will convene the jury and we will handle the matter in private. Once the Jury has made their decision it will be total and final, and their decision will be announced to the thread.

To summon the jury, make a post in the thread saying:
"I want to contest Deal X on the grounds that [state your issue]."
After which I will summon the jury via PM and we will handle it from there. We will both state our cases, with the plaintiff presenting first, and hand the Jury all PMs regarding the deal. They will deliberate with no input from either of us. If necessary we will bring in a third party to resolve the matter, such a party will not be a current player. However, I would advise you to consider if an outcome or occurrence does not happen has you desired or planned, odds are good another player's deal might have had an impact on it.

All deals with me are confidential; you will not be allowed to discuss your deal or its terms to any other player. Doing so is a breach in contract and I have every right to collect your debt. "What is your debt?" you may ask. In order to play this game, you will agree to sign over your soul to me until this game is completed. You have no obligation to sign this contract, and there will be no penalty against you if don't. However, if you if you think you can survive this game and win, all you have to do is sign on the dotted line.

Name your price,

Mephistopheles

seems fun, but I think the guardian should be replaced with a roleblocker.  Having a guardian means the seer can claim, and if the seer claims the specials will be coordinated.  You don't want to guard and seer the same players so there's a bit of conflict there.  Replacing the guardian with a roleblocker (should) stop people from making deals with mephistopheles at a 50/50 chance.  You can totally replace it with something else I guess, but what happens when someone wishes to know the identity of the wolves?

EDIT: Oh wait, I just saw the last rule.  Seems fine then, but I think guardian should still be replaced with something that works better with a seer
(maybe I just hate alliances)

I think you forgot "no changing victory conditions". Or is that allowed this time.
I also think that there should be a don't change allegiance rule since both of the previous Mephistopheles games where basicly decided by those deals.

I get that, but this is mainly a starting point with some presets that players would want anyway. I'm ok with replacing the guardian for another role, or just dropping it altogether for a normal human.

Right, I meant to add that in but didn't. As far as the changing allegiance, I'm tempted to leave it as is, but a player cannot willing switch teams.

BrainyLucario is willing to host this game:

TWG 101: Hydradoodle
A Hydra game

1. Wolf
2. Wolf
3. Seer
4. Human
5. Human
6. Human
7. Human

For those of you unaware with hydra games, it's played with mystery accounts and two players share a single account.  Either player can post or do anything without the permission of the other players, but it gives you a second head to talk to.  You can do things like put an experienced player with a less experienced player or just completely randomize it.  This setup is prone to good RNG, like if the seer hits the wolf N1 or the wolf hits the seer N1, but it ought to be a quick fun game.  After how long 100 lasted I think a shorter one would be fun.

With 6 players beginning on a night phase humans were allowed a single mislynch on day 1; with 7 players beginning on a day phase they will still be allowed a single mislynch.  To compensate the seer will be given a random green check before the game starts.

Could be some major issues here because I came up with it on a whim, but it should be balanced since nearly everyone shares the same wincon.  I don't think I actually have time to host but meh...

TWG 101: True Love's Kiss

This game uses the mystery accounts. NSM Usernames cannot be disclosed publically, however what you do in private ain't my buisness. The game ends when the homewrecker is killed or his/her win condition is met.

1. Homewrecker - Can wolf someone once per night. His/her account will appear to die in place of the person he wolfed, flipping as the Homewrecker. S/he then takes over the account of the player he wolfed, appearing as their color but retaining the homewrecker role. When sending in his wolf target, s/he may choose to highlight that players name a color. If it matches their real color, then his/her wolf can penetrate the power of the protective kiss. If it doesn't match, his wolfing doesn't go through.

2. Lover
3. Lover
4. Lover
5. Lover
6. Lover
7. Lover
8. Lover
9. Lover
etc.

Lovers win by surviving to the end of the game with their lover (the other player sharing their color.) If your lover is lynched (not night killed) then you die with them (not the homewrecker, he's not a lover, he just sports the color!) Lovers have 3 powers:

Flirt: You can flirt with one player every night by PMing the host with their twg account to find out their color! If they're your lover you learn their real NSM username too!
Kiss: You can kiss another player by PMing the host their NSM username to surrond them with the power of love, preventing them from dying that night.
Propose: This power is unlocked once at least 3 players are dead. You may sacrifice your life by publically proposing to the player that dies n1 the thread. If they're your lover, you two win the game. If not, well... you died for nothing and your real lover dies with you.

15. blue

this is the list I have, which means my game should have seven players.  Thinking that means we need a second wolf.  I'll try balancing it out with a second one.

1. Wolf
2. Wolf
3. Seer
4. Human
5. Human

Right now we have 14 players while excluding myself, so I'm hoping for one more person to join; if not, then I'll readjust the game for 14 players.

TWG 100: In the Era of the Daytime Moon

The year is 17__; the industrial revolution is in full swing. In a small village in Transylvania, strange things are happening. The villagers appear to be trapped in a bubble that turns the surrounding forest into an inescapable maze, and all day and all night, a bright moon shines in the sky, giving power to a group of cultists who have transformed themselves into werewolves. Food is running out, and the villagers have no choice but to act... but will paranoia and confusion overtake the villagers, will they be picked off one by one by the werewolves, or will they succeed in wiping out the werewolves and saving their village?

During a special "Phase 0" the players vote (via PM) on whether to have a day start or a night start.

Wolves:
1. The Black Wizard: During Phase 0, the wolves collectively decide who will be the Master Wolf; then, the rest of the wolf roles are randomly dispersed among the remaining three wolves. Also has a shaman power that can be used every night/day phase depending on whether the game is a night or day start.
2. (Painter) Wolf: If the Seer chooses to be a Daytime Seer, then each phase, they can choose to temporarily alter the role name of one person to whatever they choose. Additionally, they can also choose to paint a player any color. That player is seered and cardflipped as that color. Otherwise, they are a normal wolf.
3. (Roleblocker) Wolf: If the Seer chooses to be a Nighttime Seer, then each phase, they can choose one player. At night, that player's power, if any, is blocked, and during the day, that player's vote becomes zero. Otherwise, they are a normal wolf.
4. Wolf: A normal wolf.
5. Traitor: Counts as a human but wins with their wolves. Their ballot box vote is worth two.

Wolves collectively have a wolfing power and a one-use Instakill in addition to the regular wolfing power.

Special Humans:
6. Seer: During Phase 0, can choose to be a Daytime Seer or a Nighttime Seer. If they choose Daytime Seer, they receive both role and color.
7. Vigi: Every night, they can choose a player to kill.
8. Guardian: Every night, they can choose a player to guard. That player is safe from all attacks, paintings, and roleblocking.
9. Mystic: Every night, they are told how many wolves are alive. They have a one-use revive that can be used any phase after the first night/day or day/night cycle.
10. Fortune Teller: Is told they're a normal human. Every phase, it is announced that the Fortune Teller is alive. As long as the Fortune Teller is alive, the players can submit a ballot box vote every phase. If the player who received the most votes dies during that phase, then their apparent color is revealed.

Humans:
11. Normal Human
12. Normal Human
13. Normal Human
14. Normal Human
15. Normal Human

TWG C: A Faction Festival

Players will be randomly divided in teams of 3 or 4 depending on the number of players. They will be told what team they play for at the start of night 1. Teams win when all members of every other team are dead.

This game starts on night 0. During night 0, each player choses a role from a previous TWG on this site (except TWG LXXIX and TWG XCVII since those weren't actually werewolf games, TWG LVII because I don't want to deal with deals, TWG LVIII because the post game is incomplete and I don't want to guess what the box keepers did, and the fake roles from TWG LIV, because they were never meant to be used), and they will get to play that role during the game. However, if, after everyone has chosen a role, two or more players chose the same role* then that role will be considered Over Popular (or OP) and will be banned from the game (it will be posted immediately which roles are OP). All players that chose an OP role will have to chose a new role (if they chose a role that has already been taken by another player by that point, I'll notify them privately and tell them to pick a different role).

*Two roles are considered to be the same role if their name and power are the same.

For the most part, roles function the same as they did in their original game. However, their color will be changed into the color of the team the player is playing for, and any alternative victory conditions are removed.

If two or more players select a wolf role, they all send in a wolfing during the night phase. The player with the most wolf votes will be wolfed. In case of a tie, no one is wolved.

If a player is killed, the cause of death (lynched, wolfed, vigi'd etc.) will be posted in the phase update. If a player is attacked, but survives, that will not be posted in the phase update.

Unless stated otherwise, only living players can be targeted. Powers that return results will return no result if the targeted player dies during the same phase.

Guarding protects from any kind of night kills (other than Brutaling, Sniping, targeting a loose cannon and running out of lives), unless stated otherwise.

Psychic powers reveal the number of wolf roles rather than the number of reds and the number of human roles with special powers in the game rather than the number of blues.

Every player will have three lives (because there were so many roles in the past that require lives that it would be hard to make them work without lives). Players can never have more than three lives. Unless stated otherwise, powers that kill, as well as lynchings and wolfings, are insta kill. Revived players will be revived with three lives unless stated otherwise.

Certain roles only work with certain items. If such a role is chosen, the required items will be added to the game (and distributed to random other players unless stated otherwise).

Items are not consumed upon usage, though items that would be consumed instead become one-time use items, that still exist in the game but have no effect (unless their effect is restored by another item). Players keep their items even when they die.

Certain roles require other roles in order to work. If such a role is chosen, unless the other role has already been chosen by another player, a random other player gets the other role in addition to the role they chose. If that player is targeted by an investigative power, only the role they chose will be revealed. Players can only have one additional role, unless there are more additional roles than applicable players.

list of modified roles (continued below)

TWG III

Mason – Required roles: two other masons playing for the same team.
[close]
TWG IV

Sir Deku/Count Dekula – Alternative victory does not apply. Required role: Potion keeper (plays for a different team).

[close]
TWG XI

King of England – Power is considered to be a Brutal-ing.

L'artisen – Required role: the Pope. When targeted by the Pope, he will see the true color (=team color) of every player.

Fleur-de-Lis – Immune to brutal-ing.

Ã,me de Sol – revive powers do not change what team the revived player is playing for. If the player is revived as a wolf, they will get a vote in wolfings.
[close]
TWG XII

Lunachild – Power is considered to be a Brutal-ing.

Star Saphire – can seer any player, regardless of their color.
[close]
TWG XIV

Guardian duo – Can only guard while the other Garduian duo is alive. Only one player can be guarded by the guardian duo each night phase. If both guardian duos select a different player to be guarded, then which player will be guarded will be determined randomly. Required role: Guardian duo playing for the same team.

Sensor duo – If the targeted player's original role had a required role, the sensor duo will be told which player obtained that required role (but not which role they obtained). Both sensor duo's will get the result. Can only sensor while the other sensor duo is alive. Only one sensor will go through each night phase. If both sensor duos select a different player to be sensored, then which player will be sensored will be determined randomly. Required role: Sensor duo playing for the same team.

Seer duo - Both seer duo's will get the result. Can only seer while the other seer duo is alive. Only one seer will go through each night phase. If both seer duos select a different player to be seered, then which player will be seered will be determined randomly. Required role: Seer duo playing for the same team.

Human duo - Required role: Human duo playing for the same team.

Decoy – Any power that would reveal its role instead reveals "wolf".
[close]
TWG XXIV

Hunter – Required role: Traitor. If the targeted player has a role called 'traitor' but didn't get it from the hunter, the hunter's power still works.

Guardian – Cannot guard human players that are aware of their roles.
[close]
TWG XXV

Protective Mine – Required role: Innocent playing for a different team.

Innoncent – Required role: Protective Mine playing for a different team.
[close]
TWG XXX

Nurse – Targets one player during the night. If that player is immune to wolfing's due to their role (a.k.a. a wolfsbane), that player loses all powers and dies at the end of the night phase.

Mr. Mutou – In order for Mr. Mutou's expell power to work, he must call the exact role name (if, for example, he wanted to expell the player that has the Nurse role, he must call the Nurse role, not the Antibane role). Expelling ignores guarding.

Kenji – Immune to color seerings (exept true color seerings). Seers true colors (=team colors).

Shizune – Required role: Misha playing for the same team. Loses her power when Misha is dead.

Misha - Required role: Shizune playing for the same team. Loses her power when Shizune is dead.

Lilly - Required role: Akira playing for the same team. Loses her power when Akira is dead.

Akira - Required role: Lilly playing for the same team. Loses her power when Lilly is dead.

Emi - Required role: Rin playing for the same team. Loses her power when Rin is dead.

Rin - Required role: Emi playing for the same team. Loses her power when Emi is dead.

Inactivity – Power fails on players with wolf roles. If any wolf votes were send in during the night phase, Inactivities power has a 50% chance of working. If Inactivities power works, the normal wolfing does not go through. If Inactivity can immediately cause an insta while voting, that power overrides powers that prevent insta's.

TWG XCVI

Hungry Werewolf – Starts with the item Deep-Fried-Baklava-On-A-Stick. The Hungry Werewolf will never recieve items whenever items are randomly distributed (including at the start of the game). Has no night kill other than his vote in wolfings. Whenever the player that the Hungry Werewolf targeted for wolfing is wolfed, the Hungry Werewolf will obtain all items that that player was holding.

Foodie – If no player is holding the item named, the Foodie will be told that no one has the named item.

Control Freak – When the Control Freak uses its power, every item in the game will be redistributed. The items will be distributed as evenly as possible (if there are 8 items and 6 players, everyone will recieve at least one item and two players will recieve two items).

(item) Deep-Fried-Baklava-On-A-Stick – If the targeted player holds multiple items, only one of them (chosen at random) will be given to the player using the Baklava.

If anyone else wants to host, they have 48 hours to put their game up before the poll goes up.

I vote "stop coming up with good games" :P

That said, I like the hydra idea and would like to give that a shot.

Woah, why 48 hours

How about right now before more games are suggested

Usually it's 72 hours. Also, the end time is to make sure we can start the next game before too much time has passed, not to discourage players from creating games.

we've already got twice as many potential hosts as usual, no need to wait for more especially when as many have said the decision between the ones already available is going to be tough

Poll is up.

Is it just me that can see the results after voting or can everybody see the results after voting?

Ok, than it's good. That means that only the creator of the poll can see the results.

I'm going to be keeping track of stats this game.  If there are any stats out of the ordinary you think I should keep let me know

What kind of stats?
Title: Re: TWG CI Sign-Ups

I was just going to keep track of each player's W/L, their alignment, and when they died
For example if you rully rully want me to keep track of wolfhunting accuracy through vote or night action or things a little more specific like that let me know cause otherwise I'm not putting in the effort

oh, starting from this game. I thought you meant stats for this game in specific and was really confused how that would work lol

Yeah; IIRC, it probably has something to do with the TWG Wiki which nobody has touched in ages but is still there.

How dit you plan to determine the teams? If you do it randomly teams can becom unbalanced quickly. If you decide to team up experienced with non-experienced players I suggest that you post the teams before starting the game.

wouldn't posting teams destroy a part of the fun of this game?

that's entirely up to brainylucario to decide

yes, this is part of the fun of mystery games.  Hydra accounts it's not as big of a deal since you can have two people with different posting styles to disguise.  Pairing players randomly would be the default and having two really good players together isn't as big of a deal as it might be- it's just like having a single very good player and a single very inexperienced player in the same game.  The reason I suggested intentionally pairing roles is to help the inexperienced players- if brainy doesn't think that's necessary it'll most likely need to be random.  Since he's host I'm leaving the method up to him, is all.

^Having unbalanced teams isnt any more unfair than having goos players playing in the same games as new players.
