I'm in it to win it, innit? (Let's just hope I don't stuff up something this time XC)
In
In.

In.
I want to play, so in, but I can't promise my mom won't go control freak again so I'll be in for now with possibility of less activeness

In!
Actually, I think I'd be in for hosting, too.
holy crap, a 10 player game? We're getting back up there!

That's just the effect of holidays.
Last year we had a 15 player game out of nowhere.
in for playing and hosting (if I can come up with a game)
I'm excited for this!
Davy, are we allowed to post our games? I kinda think this is all we're going to get.
Also, are you de facto TWC right now?
yeah he pretty much is. We could do a vote for new TWC, but nobody will ever be as good as bird and mashi

Yes, you are allowed to post your games. On that note, hosts should submit their games before july 22nd 10:00 AM CET

Players cannot target themselves with their abilities.
None of the players know who their partners are.
While there are twenty-four roles in this game only twelve players will sign up. All these players get a role and an anonymous account which also has a role. The role of the anonymous account will play for a different team than the role of the player. In other words: each player plays on two different accounts and plays two different roles for two different teams.
Teams win by eliminating all members from all other teams or when all other teams can't win anymore.
Players win when eighter one of their accounts win.
This was a disaster last time I played something like this. I suggest checking thenold version for the problems that came up.
I am fully aware of the problems that came up last time, because I hosted that game.
The problems with the previous version were as follows:
1. Teams that had the same player twice had a disadvantage over teams with four unique players
2. Teams with four unique players covered half of the player base in the game, which made it relatively easy for them to control the game.
3. Two of the teams ended up having nearly the same members.
I solved the first problem by adding that each player gets their roles from two different teams. I solved the second problem by adding two teams.
I'm not sure how to deal with the third problem though. Idealy, I create a way that makes sure that there are no more than two players that have the same combination of teams, but I'm not yet sure how to do that wile making sure people cannot figure out what kind of role combinations players have by abusing the rules.
TWG XC: The Legend of ZeldaWolves1. Ganon - The great King of Evil. Master Wolf who takes two hits to kill.
2. Gleeok - One of Ganon's strongest minions. Wolf Painter who will always survive a KitB.
3. Gohma - Another of Ganon's strongest captains. Wolf Shaman.
Humans4. Link - The hero of Hyrule. If he is given the sword, he will gain a vigi power to be used once per night.
5. Princess Zelda - The princess of Hyrule, gifted with great wisdom. Herring.
6. Old Man - A mysterious old man who kickstarts Link on his great quest. The Sword begins in his possession.
7. Old Woman - A mysterious old woman with great medicinal knowledge. The Medicine begins in her possession.
8. Impa - A completely powerless aide to the princess with no special abilities.
9. Another Old Man - A crotchety old man with who will extort you if you accidentally destroy his personal property. If killed, takes a random human down with him.
10. Another Old Woman - A wise old woman with a seering ability that can be used once per night phase.
11. Hungry Goriya - Miller. Grumble, grumble.
Items!Sword: Starts in the Old Man's possession. Is useless unless passed to Link, after which point it grants Link a vigi power to be used once per night.
Shield: Reduces the effect of attacks on a player by 50%. Starts in the possession of a randomly chosen player. However, if the Shield is passed to Ganon, it will weaken him such that it only takes one attack to kill him.
Boomerang: Stuns a player and prevents them from speaking or sending a pm for the following night or day phase. Can be used once per phase. No player can be stunned two phases in a row. It will be announced when a player has been stunned. Starts in the possession of a randomly chosen player.
Medicine: Starts in the Old Woman's possession. Can be used at any time to guard any player from any attack the following phase. One-time usage.
Any item can be passed to any player via PM. Simply PM me, with the name of the item you are passing, as well as the player you are passing it to, in bold. The pass will take effect at the start of the next phase. Players can hold more than one item at a time. If a player is killed while in possession of an item, that item will be out of use for the remainder of the game. However, if someone is killed in the same phase that they choose to pass an item, the pass will still take effect.
How does a 50% reduction of attacks even work?
If you happen to have the shield and were wolfed, you would survive, and would require another wolfing/lynching/vigi to be finished.
Another way of thinking of it is that if you start the same with one hitpoint, the shield gives you two.
So the game's basically over if Ganon gets it?
But isn't it the sword of evils bane? Shouldn't he not be able to touch it?
Shield, not sword.
Whoops, thought sword.
Mael made a good suggestion about the shield's effect on Ganon and the game has been updated accordingly
A large block of text of my trying (and for the most part succeding) to make my game balanced.
Okay, I think I got a random way to make sure no two players get the same combination of colours.
There is a total of 15 different two-colour combinations (5+4+3+2+1). We only need 12 unique colour combinations, so we can remove three of them. Since we need an equil amount of every colour, we need to remove one colour combination for each color. Fotrunately, since we have six colours and combinations of two colours, this works out.
So we ask random.org to randomnize a list containing all six colours, then pair up colors one and two, three and four and five and six as the combinations to remove. For example:
Red
Blue
Green
Orange
Purple
Pink
Gets randomnized as:
Orange
Red
Blue
Green
Pink
Purple
This means we remove the colour combinations Orange/Red, Blue/Green and Pink/Purple. This leaves us with the following twelve colour combinations:
Orange/Blue
Orange/Green
Orange/Pink
Orange/Purple
Red/Blue
Red/Green
Red/Pink
Red/Purple
Blue/Pink
Blue/Purple
Green/Pink
Green/Purple
We then randomnize this list:
Red/Pink
Green/Pink
Orange/Purple
Blue/Pink
Red/Green
Blue/Purple
Orange/Green
Red/Purple
Green/Purple
Orange/Pink
Red/Blue
Orange/Blue
Then we randomnize the order of the colours in each combination and put the results in a table.
First Colour | Second Colour |
1. Pink | Red |
2. Green | Pink |
3. Orange | Purple |
4. Pink | Blue |
5. Red | Green |
6. Purple | Blue |
7. Green | Orange |
8. Red | Purple |
9. Green | Purple |
10. Pink | Orange |
11. Red | Blue |
12. Orange | Blue |
Now for each colour we randomnize the powers (seer, vigi, guard or reviver) and put them into the table in that order. For pink, the powers get randomnized as follows:
Vigi
Reviver
Guardian
Seer
So the table will be updated as follows:
First Colour | Second Colour |
1. Vigi | Red |
2. Green | Reviver |
3. Orange | Purple |
4. Guardian | Blue |
5. Red | Green |
6. Purple | Blue |
7. Green | Orange |
8. Red | Purple |
9. Green | Purple |
10. Seer | Orange |
11. Red | Blue |
12. Orange | Blue |
We randomnize the powers for every colour until we get this:
First Role | Second Role |
1. Vigi | Reviver |
2. Vigi | Reviver |
3. Seer | Vigi |
4. Guardian | Vigi |
5. Guardian | Seer |
6. Reviver | Reviver |
7. Guardian | Guardian |
8. Seer | Seer |
9. Reviver | Guardian |
10. Seer | Vigi |
11. Vigi | Guardian |
12. Reviver | Seer |
Now we just need to randomnize the player list and the TWG Accounts and add them to the table:
First Role | Second Role | Player Name | TWG Account |
1. Vigi | Reviver | daj | Pikachu |
2. Vigi | Reviver | Noct | Link |
3. Seer | Vigi | TZP | Waluigi |
4. Guardian | Vigi | AwesomeYears | Bowser |
5. Guardian | Seer | E. Gadd | Samus |
6. Reviver | Reviver | BDS | Yoshi |
7. Guardian | Guardian | Olimar | Fox |
8. Seer | Seer | davy | Falcon |
9. Reviver | Guardian | Brainy | Luigi |
10. Seer | Vigi | shadowkirby | DK |
11. Vigi | Guardian | FireArrow | Kirby |
12. Reviver | Seer | Maelstrom | Mario |
So even after all of that, team pink is still clearly the superior team, having access to 4 out of 6 vigi's and 2 out of 6 revivers. If they get together without any other team noticing (which would be quite an accomplishment), they would be the most likely to win. However, if other teams notice how strong team pink is, they are likely to team up against team pink, which would create a team with 4 revivers, 5 guardians and 2 vigi's as well as the majority in votes. So if team pink's power doesn't go unnoticed, they are the most likely to lose actually. With team pink out of the way, team blue becomes the strongest team, with 3 out of 4 revivers (remember, the team pink revivers are dead). However, team blue still has a small minority compared to non-blue-non-pink.
Additionally, I am unable to find a random method that prevents teams like team pink forming, but if any of you has a method, please tell me.
I approve of my hypothesized anon account being TWG Waluigi
Anyway, davy, I really like the concept, and I'll totally play if everybody votes for it, but switching between two accounts within the same TWG is a lot of hassle, and a significantly larger time commitment than most games.

This seems to be a game where every player knows what his role is. Games where everyone knows what his role is tend to be very human sided because people can force mass claims which means the werewolves are forced to counterclaim a specific role. The humans can then win simply by lynching the counterclaims. You try to remedy this by having a large number of wolves, having Ganon take two hits to kill and with the other old man, but even so, humans should win by lynching counterclaims.
Another problem I have with the game is that there are items that can randomly go to either a wolf or a human. This means one of the teams will have a random advantage over the other. I think it would be better if the items could only go to a player of a certain team.
Finally, silencing is not very fun, I suggest removing it.

The amount of time you commit to a game depends on the amount of time you want to commit to a game. Wether this game requires more time commitment to win then other is a question I cannot answer. Mael, BDS and Olimar might be able to answer that, since they played TWG LXVIII
Alt account games are fun

Kind of, but not really? You have to work on timing to make sure that people don't figure out who you are, but if you don't care about that, then you can pretty much do double the stuff in about the same amount of time, as long as you're a quick thinker and fast at typing.
This could turn out to be a great TWG
In for an anonymous game actually nvm I forgot I don't really have time for a game
nooo bubbles :c
i'm sorry :c but I guess technically I could still play I just would prob never be able to go in a chat room. Which I guess in an anonymous game would single me out lol
I think Davy and I are the only two who actually still use a chat room
Pls play bubbles
I'm actually considering banning the chat room for my anonymous games, since last time, Bird identified Yugi by his .au hostmask, and I have no idea how to prevent this from happening other than banning the chat room altogether.
Deal
So if chatroom is banned for my game, will you be able to play Bubbles?
FireArrow, you have 16 hours left if you want to submit your game.
I'm thinking I'm going to retract my game for right now--too many problems with it. Maybe next go-around
Quote from: davy on July 21, 2016, 08:27:36 AMSo if chatroom is banned for my game, will you be able to play Bubbles?
Oh yeah lol I didn't know that was a thing, sure!!
YES LET'S DO THIS
Ok, so TWG XC will be hosted by me. I'll PM Mashi and Bird for the anonymous account passwords. If anyone knows a better method to contact them, please tell me, because I'm not sure they still read their PMs here.
In the mean time, I have a question about my own game's balance. Do you guys prefer the method that I outlined at the bottom of page 2 of this topic, or would it be better if I use trial and error until there are no teams with access to the majority of vigi's or the majority of revivers?
Quote from: davy on July 22, 2016, 01:05:05 AMOk, so TWG XC will be hosted by me. I'll PM Mashi and Bird for the anonymous account passwords. If anyone knows a better method to contact them, please tell me, because I'm not sure they still read their PMs here.

so the game will have 11 players, each using their regular and anon account, or just the anon account?
12. Bubbles is in.
oh haha the OP isn't updated dang 12 is fantastic I can't wait
I can't wait for this game!
Quote from: NocturneOfShadow on July 22, 2016, 09:40:22 AMso the game will have 11 players, each using their regular and anon account, or just the anon account?
12 players. Each using regular and anon account.
This. This will be amazing.
What are we waiting on?
Role pm's, I think. Or the passwords to the anon accounts.
I think we're waiting on BDS to get the anon passwords.
failing that, we could make new TWG accounts.
Just sent Mashi a message right now; though I don't know if he's online right now, he should be active by tomorrow, at least.
hypeeeeeee
I've been reading this, just not posting but I'm gonna be active!
I have the passwords!
Game will start soon.
Okay, found another random method. Now every player plays for two different teams, and every team has each role once as alternate accounts.
And I just went over the PM limit, so I need to wait half an hour before I can send the rest of the PMs.
