An MUS is a project file of anything created in Finale. It's the music equivalent of a .doc file created in Microsoft Word. Finale can export MIDI files also, which is the music equivalent of a .txt file created in Notepad. Making PDFs is a little trickier - you'll need an external PDF creator like PrimoPDF.

Hey, this should go in the personal arrangements thread.
Secondly, there is a topic here (http://forum.ninsheetm.us/index.php?topic=3343.0) specifically for claiming songs to arrange.
I know you didn't know this, being new and all, so don't feel too bad about that.

Very funny, it was a mistake, wasn't meant to be posted yet, do you know how to attach an MUS file?
Title: Re: New Piece!
Post by: mikey on December 18, 2014, 10:33:44 AM
It needs to have a URL so you need to store it online somewhere
Title: Re: New Piece!

Dropbox works great.
Just download, create an account, copy the files into the folder, click share for the file on the site, copy the link, and post.

I have merged your two topics in this board together. In the future, don't create a new topic for every arrangement you make. If you look around in this board, everyone puts all of their stuff in one topic and names it "so-and-so's arrangements."

Oh, ok, so every time I make a new piece, I modify the post to add the new arrangement? Makes sense.

Title: Re: New Piece!
Post by: ThatGamer on December 18, 2014, 01:02:09 PM
I downloaded Dropbox, and when I try to open a folder, it says, "Would you like to open this with an app from the app store?" I tried every app, and they won't open it.

What are you using? Windows 8? A tablet?
Title: Re: New Piece!
Post by: ThatGamer on December 18, 2014, 01:10:48 PM
Windows 8, (ugh) on an Acer computer. It's alright though, feedback isn't That important, I can just submit it to the site, and see what Olimar12345 thinks.

I beg to differ. Feedback is the #1 best way for a new arranger to learn quickly.

Post by: ThatGamer on December 18, 2014, 01:16:20 PM
Ok, then how can I get Dropbox to open? And what do the stars on the right of my profile mean? And why am I a Bombchu Bolero? I haven't arranged any Zelda songs...
Title: Re: New Piece!
Post by: Maelstrom on December 18, 2014, 01:21:30 PM
The stars under your username correspond to the number of posts you have made. The titles for each rank pertain to various video games and musical terms.
I looked up windows 8 dropbox, and it appears that dropbox has an app.  :P
Title: Re: New Piece!
Post by: ThatGamer on December 18, 2014, 01:23:47 PM
Ok, I'll download the Dropbox app, thanks! And so...what musical term would a Bombchu be, and what's the highest rank?
Title: Re: New Piece!
Post by: Maelstrom on December 18, 2014, 01:25:52 PM
A bombchu is from Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask
Bolero is the musical term
Nintendo Nocturne is the highest, requiring 2000 posts.
Title: Re: New Piece!

There's a handful of simple formatting issues:

Formatting:
-Copyright: Double check that it's sized right and looks nice at the bottom of the sheet there.
-The game name is not "Super Smash Bros. 4". It's "Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/WiiU".
-Uhhh, your tempo marking?..
-Your name as arranger needs italicization
-I'm not sure if you can do it with your finale version but "Pno." in each line after the first needs to go bye-bye.
-Your music spacing is kinda funny but if you're using Notepad then there's nothing you can do about that so don't worry about it.

Rhythmic Groupings
-Measure 1; Right Hand: Those rests are too superfluous. Simplify it down.
-Measures 1-10, 21, 23-26; Left Hand: The quarter rests here don't work. You'll need two eighth rests instead. You got this right in measure 22 so copy off that.
-#lotsofmeasuresinrighthandprimarily: I can't go any further without addressing this. Why all the 32nd rests? It honestly looks like an imported MIDI which isn't supposed to be the case. For example in measure 16 you have a dotted 16th note with a 32nd rest when it really should just be an eighth note. So please fix those.
-Measures 6-7, 10, 22-23, 26; Right Hand: Rests, rests, rests. Um, clean this up. I don't think I need to explain further. This ties in to the last mentioned problem as well.
-Measure 12; Both Hands: Your dotted eighth note technically needs to be an eighth tied to a 16th. But for what it's worth I would just leave it as an eighth note. You also lack sufficient rests in the left hand. In the right hand of the second half of the measure your timing is really funny as well. Look into that and fix it.

I haven't checked anything to the original so I addressed no note accuracies, harmonies, and timings. All I went over here is formatting.

Ok, one thing though; arranger name doesn't need italization, I read the formatting guide.

Friend, generally speaking, you should listen to the people who've been doing this for years, especially when you've only been doing it for a few days.  G-Han's guide doesn't say to, you're right, but it's standard procedure regardless.  Check all the recently submitted sheets if you don't believe me.
