Paper Mario: Sticker Star
* You can't level up
* There is no Flower Points, Experience Points, or Star Points
* There is no Badges, or Star Pieces
* There are no uniques bosses
* There is a world map to get to locations (I HATE this feature)
* There is NO Audience
* There is no Super or Ultra Hammer and you cant use it in battle without a sticker
* There is only 55 enemies and 18 bosses unlike the others that have over a 100
* This is the first Paper Mario game not to include enemy Tattles, recipes, Clubbas, Koopatrols, Crazy Dayzees, Amazy Dayzees, Gloombas, Frost Piranhas, Putrid Piranhas, Clefts, the Merlon clan, or Whacka.
* Mario can't choose which enemy to attack if there are multiple ones; he defaults to the one in front.
* When Mario's current HP is at most 30% of its total, the in-battle music changes to a "tired" remix of itself, replacing the alarm sound heard in the other Paper Mario games while being in critical health conditions.
* This is the only sequel in the Paper Mario series where Lady Bow does not make a cameo appearance. (Lady Bow is my favorite partner from the original Paper Mario :) )
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* You can get 9,999 coins instead of 999 (the only thing I like about the game lol)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Music: I dont really have anything to say about the music. Its ok, though.
Overall music rating: 7/10
Overall this game isnt very good and there is a LOT of great features missing from the originals.
Overall rating: 3/10
Paper Mario (N64) Paper Mario is an action-adventure RPG video game for the Nintendo 64 released on February 5, 2001 in North America.
Pros
* I really like a lot of the bosses in Paper Mario. Huff 'n Puff, Tutankoopa and the Koopa Bros. are my Favorites.
* I think Chuck Quizmo is a great character. He has you answer questions for Star Pieces.
* The Dojo is a cool and fun place to go. I really like this feature.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cons
* I wish you could save the game after defeating Bowser. It'd be great for getting all star pieces, badges etc.
* Ultra Shrooms are scarce. A shop where they would be sold would be great. They really help in difficult battles
* A Tattle log would have been a Great feature. Having a record of your enemies really spices up the game and is also challenging.
Music
Some of the music in this game could use a little more pop. I didnt really like some of the music, but 60% of the music I really liked :)

Haha! Lol....yes paper mario is :)
But I will be doing some neat stuff: Top 5's and other reviews such as Mario Kart 8 and some Zelda games
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GCN)Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is the second installment in the Paper Mario series, with the first being Paper Mario. It was released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2004.
The plot of the game revolves around Mario, who embarks on a mission to collect the seven Crystal Stars in order to open the Thousand-Year Door. After learning that Princess Peach has been kidnapped, he also sets out on a mission to rescue her from the X-Nauts. The game has intermissions between each chapter, in which the player assumes the role of Bowser, as well as Peach, who have their own stories that complement the main plot.
Pros
* The Battle System additions are Great! Superguard, the Audience, the stage falling on you (lol), stylish moves, and BINGO! are great additions to this game!
* Paper Abilities are also very cool.
* I personally think the graphics are really good and the detail on some things are top notch!
* I like the intermission where you get to control Peach and also Bowser.
* The Trouble Center is a great thing that I really like that should of been in the Original Paper Mario.
* Aaaaand the Pit of 100 Trials.....which is kinda Hard :P
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cons
* A Save Block about Floor 70 or even right before you take Bonetail in the Pit of 100 Trials would be great.
* Bonetail is so darn hard especially for how long it takes you to get through the Pit. Him being easier would help.
* There are a LOT of Glitches that should of been changed that weren't.
* Someone like Chuck Quizmo from Paper Mario would of been nice.
* A minigame in the Pianta Parlor where you can fight the Bosses (Hooktail, Cortez, Shadow Queen etc.) would of been fun. But you could only play after REALLY defeating them. And you'd have to pay, of course.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Music:
Some (not many) of the Music in this Game is kind of annoying, but is mostly Great!

I mean, this is true, but it's kind of a fallacy to judge a game based on its sequel. Had you made this review without having played TTYD, you wouldn't have had this complaint. People who play Skyrim first will likely be far less fond of its predecessors in the Elder Scrolls series, but that doesn't mean that they were bad games, or even worse than Skyrim, necessarily. You'll only notice a lack in something once you're familiar with its presence.
Quote from: mariolegofan on June 26, 2014, 03:54:44 PM* I wish you could save the game after defeating Bowser. It'd be great for getting all star pieces, badges etc.
Doesn't every character go back to their respective "home" at the end of the game? It's hard to justify keeping Mario's partners with him for post-game stuff, story-wise, when everything's already been resolved. Also, that'd mean they have to create post-game content that adjusts the zones and dialogue in respect to Bowser's defeat, and not that many people would end up experiencing this post-game content.
Quote from: mariolegofan on June 26, 2014, 03:54:44 PM* Ultra Shrooms are scarce. A shop where they would be sold would be great. They really help in difficult battles
I mean, makers of RPG style-combat games have some tough decisions to make. They often have to balance things out between strategy, i.e. things up to the player's battle-specific decisions, and grinding, i.e. killing and/or doing a bunch of stuff to gain experience and/or money, in order to make your party more viable for combat. If they had Ultra Shrooms sold somewhere, that'd make survivability too easy, and diminish the importance of other survival tactics present in the gameplay. If they raised the price to make it hard to access, that'd just reward grinding a lot more. I think in this situation, they favored strategy, making you conserve your scarce ultra shrooms for when it really counts. It's like the master ball in Pokemon (although both less rare and less helpful); if master balls were sold at stores, rather than just having a single one found in each game, then it'd take away the challenge and strategy of capturing pokemon, and shift the focus toward farming money in order to buy more master balls. Their job as game designers is to give us a taste of godmode, and make us use it sparingly, rather than unrestricted access to it.

They also go back to thir home on TTYD. After you fight bowser, it goes through all the end cutscenes, and credits, you still have to fight him again after you turn your console back on.

Also true, but there are Ultra Shrooms sold in a store for a very expensive price on the TTYD. But TTYD is much harder than Paper Mario 64. Paper Mario is fairly simple to me.
Order of easiest to hardness to me:
Super Paper Mario
Paper Mario
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

Glad it wasn't just me!
Quote from: Yugi on June 27, 2014, 04:03:51 PMQuote from: mariolegofan* You can't level up
I don't see how this is a problem.
It gives no feel of progression. In an RPG, you can see your stats rise and tell the difference in battle, like when you might fight a weak enemy while backtracking, and it does no damage and you do way more than a insta-KO. In this game, your basic stats never rise, you only get access to more stickers which are still a limited resource. And you don't get that satisfying feeling of beating a boss that wiped you out after grinding a few levels.
Let's not glorify grinding, haha. You can definitely have a sense of progression in an RPG without it. In an
ideal RPG, if you haven't been running away from too many (or, let's just say any) fights, you can hold your own against any dungeon/boss assuming that you A: have come prepared (preparation not including grinding), and B: are good with your battle strategy. Granted, it should still be
difficult to achieve this level of preparedness and strategy, but by no means should it present grinding as the only way to move forward.
Granted, I haven't played Sticker Star, and from what you describe, it does sound like it failed to provide any reasonable measure of progression. And if this is accurate, then this is a problem. Nintendo seems to have been trying to maintain the aesthetic of Paper Mario without just rehashing the same gameplay concept over and over again, and that's pretty commendable, but it's definitely hard to maintain aspects that gamers like, such as progression, when you're constantly switching up the formula. Though, I think they found a pretty nice middle ground in Super Paper Mario.
Also:
Quote from: mariolegofan on June 27, 2014, 07:17:07 AMAlso true, but there are Ultra Shrooms sold in a store for a very expensive price on the TTYD.
Ahem:
Quote from: FierceDeity on June 26, 2014, 08:55:39 PMit's kind of a fallacy to judge a game based on its sequel.
Just because things were a certain way in the sequel, which you liked better, doesn't mean that it should have been that way in the original, or even that it was a wise choice for the sequel. Personally, I went through TTYD's pit of 100 trials without any ultra shrooms, because again, the high price and overly high effectiveness makes the preparation more based on grinding, and less based on strategy. I don't want to blow all of my coins on godmode health, I want to use whatever coins I've found through the regular progression of the game to buy badges and more ordinary items, so that I can shape my battle strategy in a way other than "attack a lot then heal a lot".
Also, that fallacy goes the other way, too. It's a bit silly to judge a game based on its predecessor, especially when they're clearly meant to be different, as Sticker Star and TTYD are. A lot of your complaints seem to be "This isn't exactly like the Paper Mario RPG formula I'm used to!", and to be fair, it's kind of Nintendo's fault for completely changing the formula while retaining the name from a series that had, up until that point, simply rehashed the same game concept. But it's also much the fault of a grand majority of the fanbase, for demanding "innovation" from game developers, while ultimately favoring the rehashing method.
TL;DR don't judge a game based on other games, judge it based on itself.

How about Other M? It may have been a decent game, but it removed the core essence of the Metroid franchise. That is why it
was is bashed so much.

hahahahahahahahahahaha
And maelstrom, I can't really speak for that, as I'm not very familiar with the Metroid series. But it sounds a bit like my point: people let their preconceptions of a series get in the way of what might otherwise be considered a good game. Not that there aren't certain "core essence" values, as you say, that developers should try to maintain. For Paper Mario, I feel like the main "core essence" for me was the aesthetic, seeing as its combat system was never anything particularly innovative or new. So, I was perfectly okay with the changes they made in Super Paper Mario (again, can't speak specifically for Sticker Star).
Well, not to get too off-topic, but Metroid games have always been about exploring alien planets with little to no contact with other people. Other M was about Samus herself, and had lots of cutscenes with pretty bad voice acting, along with an auto-aiming gun. And team ninja. :P

Bowser's Castle(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg3.wikia.nocookie.net%2F__cb20140614170244%2Fmariokart%2Fimages%2Fb%2Fb9%2FBowser%26%23039%3Bs_Castle_%28Mario_Kart_8%29.png&hash=d24e51602073d213873841ff03f41113bee8ebd7)
I really enjoy Bowser's castle everytime I play. I love how complex the detail is from the exterior look of Bowser's Castle to the Giant Bowser pounding his fist into the track. I like there is a lot of turns and anti-gravity spots. It makes it all the more fun and challenging :) Probably the only thing I dont like is the music. I mean....really...a rock/metal song?? I want to hear pretty, even relaxing music while I race on a track (even if its minor or sad), especially if the track its kinda difficult. Even Wii Grumble Volcano and GBA Bowser's Castle 3 has pretty descent music. Dont get me wrong guys...I think the music is great...Its just a little to....electric-e :P

Water Park is a great level I always pick on wifi when I have the chance :P. Here Some cool fun facts I learned about it:
1. This one was based off of Pinna Park from Super Mario Sunshine. One of the obvious examples of this is that there are some Nokis watching.
2. This course is owned by Waluigi (Like Toad's Factory is owned by Toad). Some obvious examples of this are that 2 of the rides are based on Waluigi. The Walugi Sea Bed and The W Wheel.
3. The map of the course is seen on some billboards, pointing out the rides. There are also some other silly posters :)
4. The carousel ride (Cupcake things that are going in a circle underwater) has the merry-go-round music from Super Mario 64.
As I said about Bowser's Castle, there are many details that make the course great! I also really like the under water part of the level and anti-gravity sections. Makes it very fun to play :)
And last but not least...the music is pretty neat.

Toad Harbor.......where do I start? This is a really creative level with trollies, store front shops, and is inspired by many American Cities. Like Water Park, there are many fun facts :)
1. You can see Princess Peach in the backround as Lady Liberty holding a Fire Flower in her left hand and a star in the right hand.
2. The trollies are full of Toads and all have a Koopa Troopa driving them.
3. This is the only New Level (other than Bone-Dry Dunes) that the Ant-Gravity isn't a compulsory.
4. This is also the ONLY new course that you dont use a glider.
I really like all the parts where there is 2 ways to go and all the ''secrets'' such as hopping on the tugboat to taking the shortcut around the buildings before the finish line. The graphics and details are top notch :)

(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mariowiki.com%2Fimages%2F7%2F7e%2FMK8-_N64_Royal_Raceway.PNG&hash=2ec3a04462c57e26b2924c058d2217d52a2773f4)
Yes Royal Raceway! Your probably thinking, "How is Royal Raceway better than Toad Harbor??" Well, this one was always my favorite on the N64 Mario Kart (and Rainbow Road from MK64). But when I saw how awesome it was on Mario kart 8, I jumped for joy :P lol
Fun Facts:
The sky is now blue with pink clouds, instead of just pink, both the starting banner and the terrace have been changed and there is now an area for a MKTV van. A ranking board has been added before the starting banner. The wall, which the racers drive around, still has red and white checker pattern but it now has some design related to Peach's castle. There are now swan boats in the lake, with Toads riding in them. The ramp now has evenly spread out five grass arches with ringing bells, which the player can hear when passing by them, hanging on them and the rails on the ramp are redesigned to make it related to Peach's castle. The long jump section has been shortened and now encompasses a gliding pad, which allows players to glide over the large gap and then land gently at the next section. There are a bunch of hot-air balloons based on Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, and Rosalina's dresses, similar to the balloons present in Daisy Hills from Mario Kart 7. There are also cherry blossom trees like in Mario Circuit from Mario Kart 7 in place of the striped evergreen trees. The road leading to Peach's Castle is now blocked off, unable to be driven around like in the original. Furthermore, the design of Peach's Castle and the area around it are now completely different from Super Mario 64, instead resembling the design from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I think ALL of these changes were great and very cool! I especially like the Swan Boats and the cool bells that actually ring!
But I do wish you could go around the castleIn all, the graphics are great and the additions really make this level shine!!

You should of seen this coming guys! I LOVE Sunshine Airport. It was the first Mario Kart 8 level I ever played and is probably the reason I got the MK8 Bundle ( I probably would of anyway :P). This level also holds my favorite music of the game :)
Here are the fun facts of this course (some are really cool)
1. The European release date for Super Mario Sunshine (October 4th, 2002) is referenced by a serial number on some storage crates in Sunshine Airport (55402MS)
2. At one point a couple of the Koopa rock formation from Koopa Troopa Beach from Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart 7 can be seen in the background.
3. This (obviously) references Super Mario Sunshine by the name and the Star Sprites all about the course.
4. At the finish, on the right a board can be seen, including names of other tracks, being among others Dolphin Shoals and Sweet Sweet Canyon. On the screens around the inside of the airport, a list of departures to other courses, such as Shy Guy Falls and Thwomp Ruins, can be seen. Posters of Water Park can also be seen.
All in all I personally think the details are the best in this level and is my favorite course of Mario Kart 8!
Thanks for reading Guys! I hoped you enjoyed it and will have more "Top 5's" out soon!
Please feel free to give comments, suggestions, criticism and more!

Super Paper Mariois an action-adventure RPG Wii game in the vein of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link and Faxanadu, among others. Unlike other Paper Mario games, Super Paper Mario is a platformer and doesn't use a turn-based battle system. The game fuses elements of 2D and 3D gameplay together, shifting back and forth between dimensions, once being described as a "2.5D" sidescroller by Nintendo Power magazine.
Pros
* Duel of 100 is a a very fun thing to do.
There is even a save block every 25 fights * I think each Chapter is very well thought up and creative :)
* I like that all the Shamans (Merlon, Merluvlee, Merlee, etc.) return in this one unlike in Sticker Star.
* Im glad that you have an ally that has the tattle ability :)
* The Audience returned :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cons
* I wish there was Star Pieces in this game. I really enjoyed looking for those in the other 2.
* A save block half way through the pits would be awesome or even right be for the 100th floor.
* They were gonna originally put Shy Guys and Wigglers in the game. I wish they did.
* Bowser, Luigi, and Peach should have been able to flip with some sort of pixl or something

I am currently playing through Ocarina of Time. I recently got to Lake Hylia and noticed this scratch on the tree. I didnt really give a care to it at first, until I thought out that there was no Monster or anything around this area that could do this. So I did a little digging on the internet. Strangely, this scratch plays absolutely no role in the plot and no characters make any references to it whatsoever. It's just.. there. Some people have come to the conclusion that it exists to hint to the presence of a large beast nearby. This makes some sense because the island sits on top of the infamous Water Temple, home to the boss, Morpha. There's one small problem with this though, Morpha is actually a giant amoeba. Last time I checked, amoebas don't have claws, in fact, they don't really have much of anything. Aaand this scratch is NOT in the 3DS remake.
Weird...
4... "Marty" in Prison
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg3.wikia.nocookie.net%2F__cb20120825232454%2Fmario%2Fimages%2F7%2F7a%2FMarty_the_Thwomp.png&hash=63dda1a67d5a8f71e37414d0276424500146bdb4)
Marty, the nickname given to this Thwomp by fans, is a Thwomp that is in jail in Bowser's Castle on Mario Kart 64. The weird thing is, it's green NOT blue like the others. Is it some racial slur? Also, in Mario Kart Wii, it's blue not green.
Very interesting...

Wow....thes creepy looking...things stare at on top of this cliff staring at you for no reason. I did a little digging and found that some people looked into the game file. All they found was the texture name, "HellValleySkyTree". I....don't think those look like trees :-\
Very creepy...
2... Human Origin
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffc07.deviantart.net%2Ffs71%2Ff%2F2013%2F148%2F7%2F2%2Fmario__peach__luigi_and_daisy_wallpaper__by_9029561-d66zy75.png&hash=a9d4ea72e7a14c3fa5e92f403c31d69bedbd4d07)
One of the greatest mysteries of all is: Where did Mario and Luigi come from? They never explain that. I mean, in some of the non-canon material (Like the Super Mario Super Show and the movie) it is... sort of explained. But never in any game is there any mentioning of it. The Toads and Koopas just accept these two weird little humans into their world without even questioning it. Peach and Rosalina are the only other humans in the Mushroom Kingdom... until it's time for sports-day
Then along come several other human-esque people, like Daisy (The weird sister of Peach that I guess lives at a different castle) and Wario and Waluigi. Then there were these weirdos that showed up for Mario Golf 64 (Plum, Charlie, Sonny, Harry, Maple) That you never see again. Aaand the Babys (Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, etc.) Baby Rosalina just showed up too!!!
Where are these humans coming from? Is there an unknown human kingdom out there? Did they find the same "drain-pipe" to crawl down?
I just dont know...
1........ Shy Guy Masquerade

Haha!! This is and has always been the biggest mystery to me: What is under the Shy Guys mask/suit?? I did a little digging on this on the web and oddly there is really no facts or really anything about this which also makes this a big mystery! The only reference in a game that the Shy Guy is "unmasked" is in Mario Power Tennis.
Here check it out:
It doesnt show him unmasked, but does scare the heck out of Luigi!
Well, I guess we'll never know :-\ I hope the y make this a possibility though:
Paper Mario 5: Shy Guy's Secret for Wii U :P

Yes, Grumble Volcano. This one barely made the list....I just think this level is SO annoying.
First, you got the parts of rock that are shaking and when you go on them you go down to the lava and you have to wait.... while everyone gets ahead. Next, this level is just so....bland: The music is bland, the graphics are bland; it's not very colorful, you dont use anti-gravity, and it gets boring. As I said before, this one barely makes the list, but it isn't one of my favorites.

Donut Plains 3........ when I first played this level, I was just plain dissappointed. I mean... Its so turny and curvy and so hard to use the "Blue Sparks" on it. Secondly, its so muddy which makes it slippery which also makes it hard to turn....on a really turny level!! Lastly..... and not leastly, it is very short. Such a short level should have been more spicy and detailed.

Ok....Dry Dry Desert. Where do I start? This level is probably one of the most bland levels of Mario Kart 8. It's just not well thought up at all like they were in a hurry to finish this level. There are NO places you use anti-gravity, the music is annoying and repetitive, there is water in the level but......c'mon water in a Desert (guess it could be an oasis :P)
They really could of made this a neat level especially with all the anti-gravity, kite, etc.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Bone-Dry ruins! Ok this level is ok. There is a ton weird stuff all the way through and dry bonesall through out and kinda bland and boring. But...the biggest problem I have with it is that...its...INSULTING!!! I cant beleive Nintendo actually released a level about Dry Bowser
without releasing him as an actual player!
I was really looking forward to having Dry Bowser and a few others come out...that weren't
released...that's another story for another time. Anyway, I was really pissed off when I saw this >:(

Well, I've got to say about this one, Rainbow Road N64. This one was one of my favorites from N64 and I was so HYPED when I heard it was coming out on Mario Kart 8! But, however, when it came out It was a HUGE dissappointment... They changed the level to have 3 different legs of the race, not 3 laps of the same course. There are Chain Chomps bounding all upon road and getting in your way and even smashing you. It gets annoying. And the places where there are anti-gravity....it's just really goofy and stupid. There are also toads throwing coins at you from a train :P
Well, I hope you guys enjoyed it :) Please leave a comment and tell me what you think :)
And check out my other Top 5's!
Good Day!
Aaand "Top 5 Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Songs" will be out next!
Awww Dry Dry desert is a classic. Changing it too much would be a bad thing!
As it is I like the new textures.

I guess....but they did change other classic s a lot...
I really like the top 5 gaming mysteries, it was such a fun read!
I'll have to disagree with your list. I liked the rainbow road from 64 better than the new one. I can't stand Twisted mansion. It just feels empty aside from the twisting pathways that seem more of a graphical tech demo than a challenge. Personally, I think that the track design just wasn't as inspired as the previous titles, and they already used up all the good retro tracks. :(
^couldnt disagree more.
Also MLF, I absolutely HATE Grumble Volcano and Dry Dry Ruins so that was an accurate list for me.
With what you said about rainbow road, hadn't they done something like that in MK7 too, or am I just trippin?

I loved the Rainbow Road from N64, but...I hated the changes they made to the new one.
