Title: What is considered spam?
Post by: K-NiGhT on January 04, 2014, 03:21:08 PM
Quote from: Olimar12345 on January 04, 2014, 03:07:35 PMRequests aren't spam. No more further discussion is to take place here. Create a topic in the feedback board if you guys want to continue talking about this, but the next post in this thread better not be anything but someone accepting the request.
Okay, so if requests aren't spam, then what is considered spam? If someone could please provide a consistent definition of what spam actually is according to the site, then maybe we can get this whole requesting thing sorted out. We need to reach some sort of compromise to prevent further incidents in the forums, imo.

"bulk messages" is a key term in all of the definitions I've seen so far.

Ninjad twice.

I've been accused of spam before (I know crazy right?) and it's not just multiple messages.  It can also be messages in the wrong spot, so before posting make sure
A) that it hasn't been asked/posted before
B) that this is the best possible spot for it
IMO that's probably how to make sure it's not spam.

ninja'd and now Olimar pretty much told what I said in one sentence >.<

Considering how backed up we are on requests, I think a "one request every two weeks" limit would be a good idea.

39 pages. That's a lot of requests, you know?

I totally disagree
The point of this site is piano sheet music and arranging and fufilling peoples requests!! NOT gabbing of in the off-topic crap like you do!

Mlf, it is improtant to note that we are not a sheet factory(quoting someone on this but gaaah I can't find the post! >< ) We are a community of people who have come together from all over the world with a common interest.

And let's not start up the whole "glory-hogging" ritual of having arrangements hosted in the site again. If you're arranging here only for the supposed "fame" then you clearly aren't in the right mindset.

Damnit. I try to write a reply and I get ninjad like 40 times.

Mlf, no single member here is better than another. Except for maybe maestro.

I dont give a crap about fame at all. And I totally agree with you :) I was just trying to make a point.

Oy, I never said you were bad. I'm just saying in comparison to other people like Drp(no offense if you're reading this lol) or someone who doesn't do any arranging at all.

The argument you were using just wasn't very sound, that's all yugi was saying.

I was just really angry because I have been having a lot of trouble arranging recently. And I didnt need it from anyone else.
I am at a war with myself: Should I keep arranging or quit.

The more I read about it, it's just a difficult issue. MarioLegoFan and Olimar aren't wrong. I'd like to apologize for sparking this debate. Obviously the request board is for requests, it's just that I think more common sense needs to be applied. I don't want to impose limits on requests or anything, it's just that you have to admit what's going on is ridiculous.

This is getting ridiculous. You guys know what spam is, and it's not his requests. It'd be a different issue if he was constantly posting in some thee thread, but how much is he really bothering you by requesting songs? I feel like everyone on nsm is getting more and more hostile lately and I don't like it.

Who are you to say we're getting hostile!?!?! I'm not hostile! Don't you dare suggest that I'm hostile! If anybody calls me hostile, I'll beat them up!!

I can understand why people are getting frustrated over the requesting issue; I think it almost crosses the line into spam, unless you don't consider posting dozens of topics in a rather short time period spam.

It sound like you do think it's spam. Since the beginning of August, he has created 17 request topics. 17 requests in 5 months is certainly above the norm, but not close to spamming

looking at the dates of some of the request topics, a good number of them have been in the last month, some of them merely days apart. if that's not spam i don't know what is, especially since he doesn't even really wait for a response until posting another one.

This is considered spam. Not a single member in the future is ever going to look at this thread and learn what spam is. Aside from in a kind of ionic accidental way.

Locked. Probably permanently. This thread needs to be started over if it's to be taken seriously.
