I don't know how many of you have seen the suggestion, but on facebook, someone suggested having another link for every song that would download a ZIP file containing MUS, MIDI, and PDF.
What do you think?
... Why?
Seems like extra work for our mods to add a ZIP of every song. Besides, it's so easy to just click on what you need (no one should ever need all 3 anyhow right? You either need just the MUS, or the PDF and MIDI)
*shrugs shoulders*
He said it would be a bit easier, but you're right.
It's already so simple; it wouldn't be worth the trouble of making ZIP links for all those 2,116 sheets!
EDIT: It really wouldn't be nice to put our wonderful mods through the strainer like that either.

My thoughts exactly. If you're looking for a pianist looking for a VG song to play, you'd click the PDF, or maybe download the MIDI to play it back in Synthesia. If you're one of those MIDI-based remixers, you'd click the MIDI and/or PDF. If you're an NSM arranger, you'd click the MUS to check the score, and maybe make some edits. I really can't think of any reason why a person would need to download our files in mass, unless they were trying to steal from NSM and make a duplicate site.

I did that for fixing the sheets so I can have all of the sheets for a game in one neat folder.
Well yah but you're a mod, not a random visitor to the site

Yes, but that was forum-specific, for NSM purposes. Making ZIPs
public is what is worrisome.
*nods head in understanding*
There's probably some handy function for zipping things in PHP.
Let's just say that the suggestion is noted*.
* "Noted" referring to the fact that Jamaha has seen the suggestion and given it a small thought, maybe going "Hmh" at the same time. Nonetheless, there is no guarantee or promise of the suggestion resulting in anything soon, or ever.
Well, yeah. It's not worth the trouble. Let's just leave it at that.
I tend to ZIP my files because it compresses the file, therefore making the file size smaller. It's useful for Dropbox and stuff.. and it seems more easier to give a single link than three different links that could have errors in it..
I like having 3 links because the midi only allows you to hear it without actually downloading it. Likewise, the PDF link individually allows you to see it without downloading it.
I don't even know how to make a link to a zip file. I mean, I have dropbox but there's no "public" folder.
Yah dropbox won't be able to help you make zip files.
I'm not sure of alternative ways of doing this, but I use IZArc (http://www.izarc.org/)

I just used dropbox to make a zip file. In the public folder right click and click "New", then it opens a side menu that has the option "Compressed (zipped) file". Unless you have a mac, then I cant help you. Im sure theres a way though
...You don't need any application for creating Zip folders (unless it's a Mac, then I don't know). Just select the files you want to put in the file, right-click, go the New, then select the compressed file option.
I know, but I don't know how to make a link to them using dropbox, and then out it on the forums.
I use dropbox.com to get the links

After you place the file in the Dropbox folder, right click, go to Dropbox option, then use share link. When the browser pops up, close the mini window, then right click the Download button and click Copy shortcut.
I would do that, but there's one problem: There is no share link option! But...I think I've found another way to do it. Does this link work the way it should: https://www.dropbox.com/el/?r=/s/o6wp49lkxb98pcg/Professor%2520Layton%2520and%2520the%2520Curious%2520Village-Puzzle%2520%25281%2529.zip&b=clk:120087100:4074562498406433443:776:445&z=AAAxxDiiq-euZmKShRVBly2bV-paEx8hzaleE418I_DjkA (https://www.dropbox.com/el/?r=/s/o6wp49lkxb98pcg/Professor%2520Layton%2520and%2520the%2520Curious%2520Village-Puzzle%2520%25281%2529.zip&b=clk:120087100:4074562498406433443:776:445&z=AAAxxDiiq-euZmKShRVBly2bV-paEx8hzaleE418I_DjkA) ? If so, I'm good to go.
Wait, that doesn't work. Okay, I've come up with ANOTHER method. Tell me, does it work now? https://www.dropbox.com/s/iujn2ni2hfs234l/Professor%20Layton%20and%20the%20Curious%20Village-Puzzle.mid (https://www.dropbox.com/s/iujn2ni2hfs234l/Professor%20Layton%20and%20the%20Curious%20Village-Puzzle.mid) *Silently sniffs* Please work...

Close. Click the link, and then

You don't need one. As I mentioned earlier, you're supposed to close that part of the window.
When I right click the download button, there's no option to copy any shortcut. There's a copy link address option, but that just leads to the same page that the download button is on.

There should be an option that will copy the link you right clicked. In this case you want to have the link that when you click that link, you'll be able to download the file. The download button also provides the download. So you would have to right click the download button and choose the option that would enable you to copy the link after you click the download button.
Yes, but the only problem is that I don't have an option that lets me do that.
Click on the download button itself and then right click "Direct Download" and Copy link address/shortcut.
you get this
https://dl.dropbox.com/s/iujn2ni2hfs234l/Professor%20Layton%20and%20the%20Curious%20Village-Puzzle.mid?dl=1
it works.

Place your file(s) into the public folder.
Right click on your file and navigate to "Dropbox -> Copy public link"

Paste the link to your thread.
Walk away.
I appreciate your help, but THERE IS NO OPTION TO COPY ANY PUBLIC LINK. I think I may know what the problem is though. When I fist downloaded Dropbox, there was no "Public" folder. I uninstalled and tried again, but it still wasn't there. So I went online and someone said I just had to create another folder and title it "Public". Could this be the reason why I can't copy any link?

Maybe, I don't know. I've never experienced this problem before.
So does it work now?
WTF? I right-clicked the download link again and this time it decided to give me the option to copy the link address...sigh. Tell me now, does this work? https://dl.dropbox.com/s/iujn2ni2hfs234l/Professor%20Layton%20and%20the%20Curious%20Village-Puzzle.mid?dl=1 (https://dl.dropbox.com/s/iujn2ni2hfs234l/Professor%20Layton%20and%20the%20Curious%20Village-Puzzle.mid?dl=1) P.S. I noticed that it's the same link of the normal dropbox page, only with an added ?dl=1. If the link works, it could potentially help anyone else with the same problem.

YES! Thanks everyone!
