welcome to the site.

anyways... regarding your arrangement, at a glance and after listening, i'm wondering if this is copied from a midi, especially considering the sound of the Piano 1 part... if you didn't copy it, then that's fine, but plagiarism is not allowed...

as for it as a piece... it sounds good, but beyond that it doesn't seem very practical in my opinion... for a duet it's really not a duet, the Piano 1 part simply plays the same harmony throughout the piece, making it not really suitable for a duet... the piece itself is also too short to really see the need for a duet, which sadly makes me think even more that you've used a midi and are just trying to cram in all the different voices (but again if I'm wrong, sorry)

Well I hope you're serious, because you are wrong. I don't even have MIDI for a keyboard or anything. I only have one MIDI out for my accordion, which doesn't even work so that isn't a possibility. Let me tell you how to get that voice out of the Piano 1 Part: go to Window; Instrument List; and there you go. You can setup the voices for your layers and choose voices. If you want I can switch the voice of Piano 1 in half a minute if that helps you to get convinced.

For the practical part in contrary, I guess you're right. It really really isn't very practical indeed so I think I will just bring the rhythm of Piano 1 part into the left hand of Piano 2 part, which actually has no use at all at the minute. It's just, I wanted to make it as perfect as possible so ppl wouldn't give some bad feedback, so I guess that didn't help, did it ::) I've been using NSM for a couple of years, I've downloaded like 100 pieces of sheet music and I really know how the use them and I also know that it isn't very strange here to make sheet music hardly playable.

I hope it helps you guys and I really know that you're of good will and wanna protect NSM, but I'd do anything to convince you because this is rather bummer to hear from your first arrangement. I hope my second one (which I've nearly completed) doesn't strike you as plagiarism and you might actually may like it :D

See ya

don't worry, if you didn't plagiarize, then don't worry about it... i was just wondering, because it's not that uncommon for people to download a midi off a site like vgmusic.com and then just "make" it their own arrangement...

and now that it's for solo piano, that seems much more practical, so good work.

Hi ya,

I was wondering how you can make sure you kind NSM people see my updates if I'm like on the second page without making bumps. Just wondering since it's been like half a year or so since I've updated my first sheet and it hasn't been added yet to the downloadpage. Just wondering

Thanks

The Gale of Darkness opening sounds nice but on a technical note some of the left hand crosses the right hand and some passages are difficult to read because of the layering.

The site isn't being updated atm. Issues with FTP, from what I gather.

Be patient. :s

I have been looking for those songs for some time now! Thanks for arranging!
Especially like the Phenac Pre Gym one (AKA Trainer school), and I love the Trainer Battle one too.

Are you planning to do more Pokémon Colosseum arrangements? I.E. the iconic Pyrite Town, or Phenac city? The "other" battle theme is also good, the one used in the first 10 or 20 matches in Battle Mountain. Though, due to all the strings, it may not sound as good on piano.

Love to hear you like the arrangments so much, Cobraroll. I have got a lot of arrangments made this year from Pokémon Colosseum, but a few of them are perfect. They include:

-Agate Village (Finished)

-Bad Guy Battle (It's actually Pokémon XD, but it's finished and quite nice)

-Battle SIM (Pokémon XD, almost finished)

-Cipher Lab (Finished, really the coolest of them all)

-Cipher Peon Battle (Almost finished)

-Cipher Syndicate S (Finished)

-Cipher's Theme (Pokémon XD, and it's a kinda orchestraversion made by me)

-Phenac City (Almost Finished)

-Pyrite Building (Orchestraversion, it's 99% perfect)

-Seth Steals The Snag Machine (Almost Finished)

-The Under (Almost Finished)

-Title Theme (Finished)

I'd really like to have help with "The Under". There's a part in the middle where the piano does stuff I just can't get my hands on! It freaks me out, so I'd like to ask for help from some more experienced arrangers. thanks a ton!

Dude, im really diggin' the Demo piece. I had never heard the song before, so when it started playing all slow and not much to it, i personally thought it sort of a "safe" piece so to speak, but after it got its groove going, i really started diggin' it. Kudos, sir.

Nice work!

I know there is a separate request forum, but you seem to be the only one that does Pokémon Colosseum/XD on here. Can I ask you to at least have a look at one song, and see if it's feasible?

"Battle Mode" or "Colosseum Mode", or whatever it's called. In Pokémon Colosseum, it's the music that plays when you get to choose modes, and you don't choose Story Mode. It's also used before and after the matches in outside-story Mt Battle. I know it's merely a version of the Pokémon Main Theme, but it has that awesome intro...

Anyways, keep on arranging! There is so much good music in the Pokémon games, and it's nice to see that someone specialises on it.

Wow I'm so glad to hear great comments =D. I'm one of the only people on this site which specializes in Pokémon Colosseum and XD, I guess. But after you have arranged a couple of pieces, it becomes easier because there's a lot of things that the Pokémon composers always use. Lot of dim-chords. Cipher Lab for example only contains Adim, Edim, Am en D chords. And the Am => Ab+  => C/G => C(b5)/F# is also used so often in the two games. I'll have a look at the song you mean, Cobraroll and Gooch, you gotta tell what the expression "digging sth" means =P, I'm dutch you know =)

I listened at the song you meant and recorded it as a Mp3-file so I can listen it on my mp3-player and arrange it. It's quite an easy song, so it'll be finished in a couple of days/weeks, it depends on school.

^Good! Thanks!

As a side note, do you own other Pokémon games? You're starting to get through much of the song roster in Colosseum/XD, so what's after that? The music in the 3rd and 4th gen handheld games is very similiar in style to that in Colosseum/XD, so maybe something from there?

I made a request topic here, but the size of it has appearently discouraged people from posting there. Have a look!

I do own all Pokémon games, which means: Blue, Red, Green, Gold, Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, Pearl, Pokémon N64, Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2. Well, almost every. But this music is more my style because with Ruby and Sapphire for example, it's s much quicker (which means harder). If you listen to the Rival Battle, it's just so hard to do that! Kudos to the one who arranged it.

I can do certain Pokémon Colosseum songs in a quarter of an hour, Es Cade S Theme, but I don't want to invest months in one song.

I'll look at your request topic ;)

You have to invest more time if you want to make really awsome arrangements :P youre arrangements are really cool but if you really want to make something REALLY BIG, you have to invest more than a month...
Ive invested 2 months on "end title" songs from Super Mario Galaxy, and the result was great (not perfect, but great)

Well indeed I have invested a couple of months in Trainer School and Cipher Lab to get it perfect (since the piano is so damn hard to arrange) but only having Notepad 2008 really confines you, I can't add a lot of stuff I would like to add. And still, what is a really awesome arrangements? Pokémon doesn't have a lot of awesome arrangements, does it? What is in your opinion a song that I could awesomly arrange?  ???

Well, there is a few I've requested, I suppose you've seen the topic (as you have posted there already). And if you want an (in my eyes) truly awesome arrangement from Pokémon, requested here twice before the expire, but abandoned, behold:

Dialga/Palkia Battle - Super Smash Bros. Brawl
http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/wii/index-sz.html (number 1)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=642AIUwadk8 (if you want the original)

It's mostly piano, and I think the rest wouldn't sound bad if played on piano either. If you like it, give it a try.

Last, for your information, the (awesome) Trainer School music link has expired. Just thought I'd point that out.

an awesome arrangement doesnt depend of the song, but how your arrangement looks like the original song, without making an impossible arrangement.
You can make the easiest pokemon arrangement in the world (or the "less cool" arrangemnt), but if it looks perfectly arranged, then, youll get an awesome arrangement :)
its a shame that you only have notepad 2008.
well, you can always get the pirate version.... (i didnt said this :P)

In that case, I do not arrange awesome songs, because I want to grab the essence of the song and fill it with my own interpretation and way of playing. I always try to stay as close to the song as possible. Can you please re-arrange a song like Cipher's Lab in your way, so I can find out what you mean with an awesome arrangement? I won't tell Finale that you said that I could use the pirate version too, but maybe I should..

Standing applause and hats off for Pokémart! That one was seriously good, yet made in a so short time after the request. Very well done mister!

Too bad I'm not able to play it yet...

Now well. Hopefully, that time will come soon. *leaves PC to practise*

@Cobraroll: I'm quite happy with Pokémart too =). It ain't that hard, but sometimes you have to play octaves or even bigger very quick, the left hand is very easy =)

Lovin' the new updates. Was really looking for that Pokémon Healing music, though even though you arranged it from Pearl, I think it belongs under "Red/Blue", where it after all originated. It was just remade in all the later games, it's the same five tunes, but maybe with different orchestration.

And if possible, I think you could extend some measures in Champion Battle. The fifth page has only one line, and it's pretty crammed at the bottom of the first page, so you could extend it slightly (so you can see the "b"s and "#"s better) without making the arrangement longer.

Your arrangements are good, but I think you should announce every new upload so people easier can see when there's something new, again raising feedback.

About the Champion Battle, you're absolutely right. I'll change it asap. But how do you want me to announce a new upload? Like changing the topic subject into (Update! 06-02-2009) or something?
Title: Re: GreekGeek's submission (Update! 02-01-2009)
Post by: Cobraroll on February 06, 2009, 06:50:23 AM
Either that, or if it's been a long time since last upload/post in the topic and/or you have multiple songs, you could make a reply in the topic. If it's been a while, the topic will be far down the page, and no one will notice it if it just changes title. In such a situation, a new post bumping the topic up to the top of the page would be a good idea. However, if the topic is blooming with posts, a mere title change would be sufficent. As a general rule, always have the title up to date with the last submission.
If you have uploaded multiple songs, and really want someone to have a look, you should also reply, besides changing the title. More people will notice, then.

Ah, a shame. Hope things get better with you soon, and not just because these are... AWESOME either! I'm pretty much a fan of Colo/XD music and felt like learning some tunes on my keyboard - so you rock for making these. =D But hope things improve for you - we all have our ups and downs but the downs sure could be less frequent at times. -_-

I have a request though - any chance for Miror B's XD battle theme? Also I do have a soft spot for GSC music, even if a good number of those tunes are hard. -_-

Bobandbill, I do own the MIDI of the Miror B's XD Battle Theme, so I could send you it. However my computer isn't working and I have to wait until I get a new computer. I think it will be this or next week. Things are gettin' better now luckily, but as long as my computer isn't working it won't go very fast. Don't know which song to do next. I think Route 228 from Pokémon Diamond, really like it.

Good to hear things are getting better for you. =D Hope your new computer is a good one too...

MUS file as well as MIDI? Wasn't very clear in my post before, but it's the sheet music I'm after mainly - feel like learning it after I tackle his salsa version. =D That's if you don't mind making it, that is. Already have mp3 versions of his XD theme as well btw... makes for good listening.

Route 228 ain't bad to listen too, I'd say. Not as good as 216/217/Acuity Lakefront IMO, but decent. =)

Yes, I hope so too. Totally fed up with that stupid bitches (= computers).

No, only the MIDI file. It wasn't done by me, I found it on the internet. But I think you can play it really well if you just split it up into a melody line and bass line. Maybe in a while I'll make it to a piano version, but I'll start with 228 first if you don't mind.

No rush - you can do other ones that you're interested in first and foremost, of course. =) You'd get more awesome points if you do end up making piano sheet music for Miror B's XD battle music sometime though. =P Whenever you want if you're willing really - I have patience. Cheers once again!

Great work on 'Approaching Champion Cynthia'! It's one of my favorite pieces from the series :D

Just a couple things:

1)Some of the notes that aren't tied need to be tied. In measures 6-7 and 14-15 the dotted eighth at the end needs to be tied to the quarter note of the next measure. Maybe you missed that, but I thought I'd like to point it out

2) Inserting a repeat for measures 5-35 wouldn't hurt as this is a repeating theme

Other than that, fantastic work :D

EDIT: Here's the fixed sheet if you want to take a look at it MUS (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bjoymji5j3h)

Sorry, I had to bump this. I'd like some feedback, so maybe I can submit Semifinal Battle (Which I'm very proud of) next time. What do you think?
Title: Re: GreekGeek's submission New song! [19/07]
Post by: kotorfanboy on July 22, 2009, 10:01:46 PM
semifinal battle as some format errors in that:

-game title is too big
-game title is not italicized
-There's a pesky "[arranger]" text box floating up in the top left
-Are you only supposed to have one copyright date? Not sure.
-Arrangement by needs italics, no bold
-If you want to really get nitpicky, don't include colons as they aren't in G-Han's guide

I think that's it! I noticed you asked what was wrong with the format, so...yea. Formatting's a bitch. But an important one at that.

Generally I choose the copyright year based on when it was first released in the U.S. (not counting remakes, re-releases, etc.).  Not that it really matters.  I never check the copyright year (can you imagine looking that up for every sheet?  Bleh, no thanks), unless it's something ridiculous... like saying Super Mario Bros. came out in 2009.  Then I check. :P

I always go to www.gamefaqs.com and check the dates when it came out in Japan, US etc.
But f.e. not that the Ocarina of Time was remade for Gamecube, except when the song that was arranged was used for arrangement instead of the original song.

You need to format correctly.  The new arrangement has a ton of overlapping elements.

I know, but that's because the melody and the original brass should be split, I think. Or isn't that what you meant?

No.  Just look at the damn thing, it should be obvious.  Slurs overlapping with the above measures, some of the marks I forget the name of that tell you to play a note loudly are overlapping with things, etc.

Nintendude changed it all luckily, I'm not good enough to do that in Finale. And I agree it looks terrifying, but some things can't be changed when you arrange this song.

No.  If you spend time actually looking at it, you can shape the slurs so they don't do such a thing, move those extra bits around, etc.  I did this myself with my own arrangement.

Hey, just wondering, why aren't you submitting any of your arrangements anymore?
Some of the colosseum ones are great

I'm sorry to bump on this, but I'd like to know which requests I still have to fulfill and how to submit sheets to this site. It's been a while, as you all can see. I recall Cobra requesting Krabby Club - Pokémon XD and a song from Diamond/Pearl. I'm considering arranging again, so that's why.

Where is the "like" button?

Sheet submission has changed a little since the good ol' days. Every now and then, the uploaders will make a submission thread. You post a specified number of your arrangements in there, and the uploaders will quality check them (eventually). If they approve it (they will edit your post to indicate so), it will be uploaded. During the submission period there will be multiple rounds of revision, so you will get multiple chances each round in case you accidentally miss the formatting criteria.

And yes, Krabby Club would still be greatly appreciated!
